## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Scraper & API – App Details, Installs & Ratings

Get the public Google Play data of any Android app, in any country: the **exact install count**, rating, ratings per star, price, in-app purchases, ads, genre, version and last update. Give package names or Play links. You get one clean JSON row per app and country.

Use it for ASO and competitor tracking, for app market research, to see what an app costs in 50 countries, or as a Google Play API for your own tools and AI agents. No Google account, no browser, no proxies.

### What you get

One row per app and country:

- `title`, `developer`, `developer_id`, `developer_website`, `genre`, `categories`
- `real_installs` (the exact number, e.g. 3,183,142,421), `installs` (the bucket Google shows, "1,000,000,000+") and `min_installs`
- `score` (1 to 5), `ratings`, `reviews`, `histogram` (ratings per star)
- `free`, `price`, `currency`, `on_sale`, `original_price`, `offers_in_app_purchases`, `in_app_price_range`, `contains_ads`
- `content_rating`, `released`, `updated` (UTC), `version`, `summary`, `description` (optional)
- `icon`, `header_image`, `screenshots`, `video`, `privacy_policy`, `url`, `checked_at`

The developer's e-mail and postal address are left out on purpose: for one-person developers they are personal data.

### Example output

```json
{
  "app_id": "com.spotify.music",
  "country": "us",
  "title": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "developer": "Spotify AB",
  "genre": "Music & Audio",
  "score": 4.349,
  "ratings": 36596071,
  "histogram": {"1": 3720791, "2": 1068275, "3": 1310396, "4": 3106188, "5": 27390405},
  "installs": "1,000,000,000+",
  "real_installs": 3183142421,
  "free": true,
  "price": 0,
  "currency": "USD",
  "offers_in_app_purchases": true,
  "in_app_price_range": "$4.99 - $203.88 per item",
  "contains_ads": true,
  "updated": "2026-11-02T11:59:56+00:00",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music&hl=en&gl=us"
}
```

Measured 05.11.2026: 15 popular apps in 6 countries (US, DE, JP, BR, IN, NO) gave 89 complete rows. The 90th was TikTok in India, where the app is banned. That row came back as `not_found` and was not charged.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `appIds` | Package names (`com.spotify.music`) or Google Play links. The package name is the `id=` part of the link. |
| `countries` | 2-letter codes, up to 50 (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `in` ...). Each app is read once per country, because price, currency and availability differ. |
| `language` | Language of titles, genres and descriptions: `en`, `de`, `fr`, `ja`, `pt-br` ... |
| `includeDescription` | Add the full description. |

Up to 10,000 app/country pairs per run. Schedule it daily or weekly and you have an install and rating tracker.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

- **$0.0005 per app per country ($0.50 per 1,000 apps).**
- $0.001 per run start.
- Apps that are not found, not available in a country or cannot be read are free.

Example: 200 competitor apps in 5 countries, every week: about $0.50 per run.
You can cap the cost of a run with the maximum charge setting. The Actor stops before it fetches an app the budget cannot pay for.

### Good to know

- The data is read from the public Google Play app pages, which Google's robots.txt allows. Google Play search pages are not allowed by robots.txt, so this Actor works from package names and links, not from search terms.
- Google decides what the page shows per country, and some apps are not available everywhere. The rating and installs are worldwide figures. Price, currency and availability are per country. Google Play has no store in China; `cn` returns Google's default (US-dollar) page.
- If Google refuses a request, the Actor waits and tries that app again (3 tries). If Google keeps refusing most apps, it stops early and delivers everything it has fetched so far. Refused apps are free.
