## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Traffic Checker & Domain Authority Checker – Bulk SEO

Check the traffic and authority of any website, or of 10,000 at once: estimated monthly visits from Google organic search, the number of keywords it ranks for, paid search traffic, domain rank (authority), referring domains and backlinks.
Built for SEO and marketing agencies sizing up competitors and link prospects, investors and sales teams qualifying websites, and AI agents that need SEO numbers mid-task.
The data comes through a licensed data provider (DataForSEO), not by scraping SEO tools, so runs do not fail on captchas, logins or blocks.

### What you get

For every domain:

- **Organic traffic**: estimated monthly visits from Google organic search, for one country or all countries.
- **Organic keywords**: how many keywords it ranks for in Google.
- **Paid traffic and paid keywords**: estimated visits and keywords from Google Ads.
- **Domain rank (0-1000) and authority score (0-100)**: how strong the domain's backlink profile is.
- **Referring domains** (also root domains and nofollow-only) and **backlinks**.

Paste plain domains or full URLs; they are reduced to the domain. Up to 10,000 domains per run.

### Example output

A real row for `canva.com` with traffic from the United States:

```json
{
  "domain": "canva.com",
  "organic_traffic": 22352607,
  "organic_keywords": 745670,
  "paid_traffic": 0,
  "paid_keywords": 0,
  "domain_rank": 692,
  "authority_score": 69,
  "referring_domains": 509872,
  "referring_main_domains": 455757,
  "backlinks": 144377269,
  "traffic_location": "United States",
  "checked_at": "2026-10-21T12:29:18+00:00"
}
```

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `domains` | Domains or URLs, e.g. `example.com`, `https://www.example.com/pricing`. Up to 10,000. |
| `location` | Country for the traffic estimate, e.g. `United States`, `Germany`. Empty = all countries. Authority and backlinks are always global. |
| `language` | Search language for the traffic estimate when a country is set. Default English. |

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

- **$4 per 1,000 domains** ($0.004 per domain looked up, also when a domain has no data: the data provider bills every lookup).
- $0.12 per batch of up to 1,000 domains.
- $0.001 per run start.

Examples: 1 domain costs about $0.13. 100 domains cost about $0.52. 1,000 domains cost about $4.12, and 10,000 about $41.

You can cap the cost of a run with the maximum charge setting; the Actor only starts the batches and domains the budget covers. Lines that are not a domain are listed and never charged.
Live lookups need a paid Apify plan (any plan); the pre-filled example works on the free plan.

### Good to know

- Traffic is an estimate from Google rankings and search volumes (the same method SEO tools use), not analytics data from the site.
- Domain rank is DataForSEO's backlink-based authority score (0-1000); `authority_score` is the same on a 0-100 scale. Like every authority score, it is comparable within this tool, not identical to other tools' scores.
- A new or unknown domain returns zeros.
- One batch of up to 1,000 domains usually takes a few seconds.
