## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Instagram Post Scraper

Get the posts and reels of any public Instagram profile, or single posts by URL: caption, likes, comments, plays, shares, saves, hashtags, mentions, tagged users, collaborators, music and media links.

**$0.30 per 1,000 posts.** Shares and saves are included.

### What it's for

- **Competitor and creator tracking**: engagement of every post, on a schedule with *Only posts newer than* set to `1 day`.
- **Campaign reports**: paid partnerships, sponsors, collaborators and tagged accounts come with each post.
- **Content research**: captions, hashtags and audio of what performs in a niche.
- **Data for AI agents and dashboards**: clean JSON, CSV or Excel, or straight from the API.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `username` | Usernames, profile URLs or post and reel URLs, one per line |
| `resultsLimit` | Posts per profile, newest first (default 20) |
| `onlyPostsNewerThan` | A date like `2026-09-01`, or a period like `7 days` |
| `skipPinnedPosts` | Leave out pinned posts, which stay on top however old they are |

Coming from another Instagram scraper? These are the field names of Apify's Instagram Post Scraper, and so are the output fields (`shortCode`, `likesCount`, `videoPlayCount`, `ownerUsername`…). Saved inputs, API calls and integrations keep working.

### Output

One row per post:

```json
{
  "inputUrl": "humansofny",
  "id": "3994085964203084411",
  "type": "Video",
  "shortCode": "Ddt2AXassp7",
  "url": "https://www.instagram.com/p/Ddt2AXassp7/",
  "caption": "It’s on you to say whether it’s your rock bottom.",
  "hashtags": [],
  "mentions": [],
  "timestamp": "2026-09-25T16:04:47.000Z",
  "likesCount": 25265,
  "commentsCount": 605,
  "videoPlayCount": 1255170,
  "videoDuration": 91.252,
  "sharesCount": 739,
  "savesCount": 2127,
  "displayUrl": "https://scontent-lhr11-1.cdninstagram.com/v/...",
  "videoUrl": "https://scontent-lhr11-1.cdninstagram.com/o1/v/...",
  "productType": "clips",
  "isPinned": false,
  "paidPartnership": false,
  "sponsors": [],
  "taggedUsers": [],
  "coauthorProducers": [],
  "musicInfo": { "artist_name": "humansofny", "song_name": "Original audio", "uses_original_audio": true },
  "ownerUsername": "humansofny",
  "ownerFullName": "Humans of New York"
}
```

Carousels (`"type": "Sidecar"`) also list each slide in `childPosts` and its image in `images`. `likesCount` is `null` when the author hides likes.

Profiles and URLs that can't be read get a row with the reason, free of charge:

```json
{ "input": "some_private_account", "error": "Private profile" }
```

### Price

- **$0.30 per 1,000 posts**
- **$0.002 per profile or post URL** that returns posts
- Private, missing or invalid inputs: free

| Run | Cost |
|---|---|
| 100 profiles, 20 posts each | $0.80 |
| 1 profile, 1,000 posts | $0.30 |
| 500 post URLs | $1.15 |

A run stops at the maximum cost you set for it. On Apify's free plan, a run returns up to 100 posts.

### FAQ

**Does it work with private profiles?**
No. Only public profiles and posts.

**How far back does it go?**
As far as the profile goes. Raise *Posts per profile*, or set *Only posts newer than* to stop at a date.

**Why do some posts from last year come first?**
They're pinned. Turn on *Skip pinned posts* to leave them out; the date filter already ignores them.

**Is it legal?**
It reads only public profiles and posts. Captions and usernames can be personal data under GDPR and similar laws: use them for a legitimate purpose and honor deletion requests.
