## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Comments Scraper

Get the comments and replies of RedNote (Xiaohongshu, 小红书) notes: text, likes, reply counts, IP location, pinned and author labels, mentions and photos.

**$4 per 1,000 comments.**

### What it's for

- **Consumer research in China**: what buyers say about a product under the notes that review it.
- **Brand and campaign monitoring**: reactions to your notes and your competitors', on a schedule with `sortBy: latest`.
- **Sentiment analysis and AI training data**: comment text with likes and province, ready for a model.
- **Lead finding**: the people asking where to buy, under the notes of your category.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `noteUrls` | Note URLs, share links or whole share texts, one per line |
| `maxCommentsPerNote` | Top-level comments per note (default 0, all of them) |
| `sortBy` | `latest`, `most_liked` or `recommended` |
| `includeReplies` | Replies under each comment (default on) |
| `maxRepliesPerComment` | Replies per comment (default 5; 0 returns all) |

Coming from another RedNote scraper? These are the input fields of the most used RedNote comments scraper on Apify, and the output keeps its field names (`like_count`, `sub_comment_count`, `user.red_id`…). Saved inputs and API calls keep working.

### Output

One row per comment, each top-level comment followed by its replies:

```json
{
  "id": "6adb3709000000001301b972",
  "note_id": "6adaefaa000000003101e6e6",
  "url_to_note": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/discovery/item/6adaefaa000000003101e6e6",
  "content": "如果用周深的原唱就更好了[微笑R]",
  "time": 1792751370,
  "time_iso": "2026-10-23T10:29:30.000Z",
  "ip_location": "Heilongjiang",
  "like_count": 188,
  "sub_comment_count": 7,
  "parent_id": null,
  "reply_to_id": null,
  "pinned": false,
  "by_author": false,
  "user": { "userid": "ac75a876f1004075bcd4397c32ebe", "red_id": "155•••262", "nickname": "糖果…", "avatar": "https://sns-avatar-qc.rednotecdn.com/avatar/...", "profile_url": null },
  "at_users": [],
  "pictures": [],
  "input": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/discovery/item/6adaefaa000000003101e6e6"
}
```

A reply has the comment it sits under in `parent_id`, and the reply it answers, if any, in `reply_to_id`. RedNote masks commenters' user IDs, so `profile_url` is empty; `red_id` is the RedNote ID people search for.

Notes that can't be read get a row with the reason, free of charge:

```json
{ "input": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6a0000000000000000000001", "error": "Not found" }
```

### Price

- **$4 per 1,000 comments**, replies included
- **$0.01 per note** that returns comments
- Notes without comments, deleted or invalid: free

| Run | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1 note, 1,000 comments | $4.01 |
| 100 notes, 50 comments each | $21 |

A run stops at the maximum cost you set for it. On Apify's free plan, a run returns up to 100 comments.

### FAQ

**Do I need a RedNote account, cookies or a Chinese proxy?**
No.

**Why do some comments come without all their replies?**
A thread of fewer than 4 replies comes only with the ones RedNote shows under the comment.

**Can I find notes by keyword?**
Use the RedNote Search Scraper, then pass its note links here.

**Is it legal?**
It reads only public comments. Comments, usernames and locations are personal data under China's PIPL, the GDPR and similar laws: use them for a legitimate purpose and honor deletion requests.
