## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TikTok Transcript Scraper

Get what's said in TikTok videos: a profile's latest videos or any video URL, with the video's caption, plays, likes and date.

Each transcript comes from TikTok's own captions when the video has them, and from AI speech-to-text when it doesn't. Videos with no speech (music only, silence) are free.

**$3 per 1,000 transcripts.**

### What it's for

- **Content research**: hooks, scripts and talking points of the creators in your niche, as text you can search.
- **Repurposing**: turn your own TikToks into posts, newsletters, blog drafts or subtitles.
- **Brand and ad monitoring**: what creators actually say about a product, beyond the caption.
- **Data for AI agents and LLM pipelines**: clean JSON, ready to summarize, classify or embed.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `profiles` | Usernames or profile URLs, one per line |
| `postURLs` | Video URLs or short links (`vm.tiktok.com`, `vt.tiktok.com`, `tiktok.com/t/`), one per line |
| `resultsPerPage` | Videos per profile, newest first (default 10) |
| `oldestPostDateUnified` | A date, or a period like `7 days` for scheduled runs |
| `newestPostDate` | Leave out videos posted after this date |
| `excludePinnedPosts` | Leave out pinned videos |

These are the field names of the most used TikTok scrapers on Apify, so saved inputs carry over.

### Output

One row per video:

```json
{
  "input": "garyvee",
  "id": "7114641064446676267",
  "webVideoUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@garyvee/video/7114641064446676267",
  "authorName": "garyvee",
  "authorNickName": "GaryVee",
  "text": "On this summer morning there’s a lot of people out there pondering these questions…",
  "createTimeISO": "2022-06-29T12:41:04.000Z",
  "duration": 61.8,
  "playCount": 20249413,
  "diggCount": 1517720,
  "commentCount": 9407,
  "shareCount": 62837,
  "collectCount": 84244,
  "transcript": "how can I keep my daughter 9 years old away from this dangers from the Internet only two things one you actually don't let her spend time on it…",
  "transcriptSource": "tiktok"
}
```

`transcriptSource` is `tiktok` for TikTok's captions and `speech-to-text` for ours. A video without speech comes with an empty `transcript`.

Profiles or videos that can't be read get a row with the reason, free of charge:

```json
{ "input": "some_private_profile", "error": "Private profile" }
```

### Price

- **$0.003 per transcript**
- **$0.01 per minute of AI speech-to-text**, only for videos without TikTok's captions, counted per started minute (a 40-second video is one minute)
- Videos without speech: free
- Private, missing or invalid profiles and videos: free

| Run | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1,000 videos with TikTok's captions | $3 |
| 1,000 videos under a minute, all by speech-to-text | $13 |

A run stops at the maximum cost you set for it. On Apify's free plan, a run transcribes up to 10 videos.

### FAQ

**How many videos have TikTok's captions?**
In our tests, most videos with someone talking had them. The rest go through speech-to-text.

**Which languages does it handle?**
TikTok's captions come in the language spoken in the video. Speech-to-text detects the language by itself and transcribes over 50 of them, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi and Arabic.

**What about songs?**
A video with only instrumental music is free. A song with lyrics and no captions comes back as its lyrics.

**Are there timestamps?**
No, one block of text per video.

**What about videos longer than a few minutes?**
Speech-to-text covers the first 10 minutes. TikTok's captions cover the whole video.

**Does it work with private accounts?**
No. Only public profiles and videos.

**Is it legal?**
It reads only public videos. Names and voices are personal data under GDPR and similar laws: use them for a legitimate purpose and honor deletion requests.
