## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Woolworths & IGA Scraper

Woolworths and IGA prices in one spreadsheet. For every product you get:

- price and was price
- the deal (Half Price, Save $0.95, 30% Off)
- unit price per kg or litre
- stock, barcode and category

Search both chains at once, or list every special at an IGA store. Pick any of IGA's 537 online stores by postcode. No account needed.

**$1.50 per 1,000 products.**

### Who uses it

- **Price comparison and grocery apps**: both chains in the same fields, with unit prices on one scale.
- **Brands and suppliers**: shelf prices, specials and stock for your products and your competitors'.
- **Market research**: a basket of products tracked week by week with a scheduled run.
- **Deal sites and newsletters**: this week's specials with their discounts.

### What you get

| | Fields |
|---|---|
| Product | name, brand, size, category, barcode (Woolworths), image, link |
| Price | price, sold by item or kg, unit price per kg, litre or item, and the store's own unit price label |
| Specials | on special, was price, deal label, end date (IGA, when the store publishes it) |
| Store | in stock; for IGA, the store name and number |

### Examples

**Compare a basket across both chains**, cheapest first:

```json
{ "searchTerms": ["full cream milk 2l", "white bread", "free range eggs"], "sort": "priceAsc", "maxProducts": 20 }
```

**Every special at your local IGA:**

```json
{ "retailers": ["iga"], "specialsOnly": true, "igaStore": "3000", "maxProducts": 5000 }
```

**Woolworths specials in a category:**

```json
{ "retailers": ["woolworths"], "searchTerms": ["chocolate", "coffee"], "specialsOnly": true, "maxProducts": 500 }
```

### Output

```json
{
  "retailer": "Woolworths",
  "store": null,
  "storeId": null,
  "productId": "785722",
  "name": "Pauls Zymil Lactose Free Full Cream Milk",
  "brand": "Pauls",
  "size": "2L",
  "price": 5.95,
  "soldBy": "each",
  "wasPrice": 6.9,
  "onSpecial": true,
  "promotion": "Save $0.95",
  "specialEndsAt": null,
  "unitPrice": 2.98,
  "unit": "L",
  "unitPriceLabel": "$2.98 / 1L",
  "inStock": true,
  "barcode": "9310036048985",
  "category": "Dairy, Eggs & Fridge > Milk",
  "url": "https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/785722/pauls-zymil-lactose-free-full-cream-milk",
  "image": "https://cdn0.woolworths.media/content/wowproductimages/large/785722.jpg",
  "searchTerm": "full cream milk",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-18T20:25:13.507Z"
}
```

`unitPrice` is always per kg, per litre or per item, whatever the store shows. IGA's "$7.08/100g" becomes 70.80 per kg, so different pack sizes and chains compare directly. The store's own wording stays in `unitPriceLabel`.

Export as Excel, CSV or JSON, or open the **Products** table with images in the dataset.

### Pricing

**$1.50 per 1,000 products.** A search a store doesn't answer costs nothing.

| Run | Cost |
|---|---|
| 3 search terms, 20 products each, both chains | $0.18 |
| Every special at one IGA store (about 3,600) | $5.40 |

**Products per search term and store** caps the cost of a run. Apify's free plan credit covers about 3,000 products a month.

### Tips

- IGA prices and specials differ between stores. Enter a postcode and the Actor uses the IGA with that postcode, or the one with the nearest postcode. The store name is in every row.
- Woolworths prices are the ones woolworths.com.au shows before you set a delivery address.
- A product found by two search terms is returned, and charged, once.
- Woolworths specials need a search term. Without one, the run lists IGA's specials only.
- Woolworths and IGA specials start on Wednesdays, so a weekly run on Wednesday catches each new round.

### FAQ

**Does it cover Coles or Aldi?**
No, only Woolworths and IGA.

**Can I use it as an API?**
Yes. Call it from Python, JavaScript or any HTTP client (see the API tab), or connect it to Make, Zapier or n8n.

**Is it legal?**
It collects public prices that Woolworths and IGA show to any visitor without an account. Check the stores' terms for how you use the data.
