## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Reviews Scraper

Collect reviews for any Android app on Google Play: **star rating, review text, date, app version, helpful votes and the developer's reply**. Filter by stars or date, pick the country and language, and export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

Apps that return no reviews, and failed lookups, are free.

### What can this Google Play reviews scraper do?

- ⭐ **Filter by stars.** Get only 1-star reviews to find what users complain about, or only 5-star reviews for testimonials.
- 📅 **Only new reviews.** Set "Reviews since" to collect just what came in after a date. Schedule it daily to monitor feedback.
- 🌍 **Any country and language.** Read the Play Store of any country, in any language.
- 💬 **Developer replies.** See how the developer responded, and when.
- 🔢 **Many apps at once.** Paste app IDs or Play Store URLs.

### How to scrape Google Play reviews

1. Add one or more **apps**: an app ID like `com.spotify.music` or the app's Play Store URL.
2. Set **Max reviews per app** and **Sort by**.
3. Optionally choose **Star ratings**, **Reviews since**, **Country** and **Language**.
4. Click **Start** and download the results.

### Input example

```json
{
    "appIds": ["com.spotify.music", "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp"],
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
    "sort": "newest",
    "stars": ["1", "2"],
    "country": "us",
    "language": "en"
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
    "resultType": "review",
    "appId": "com.spotify.music",
    "reviewId": "752659ef-19f9-4479-815d-15cac801ed84",
    "userName": "Dima",
    "rating": 4,
    "text": "good songs but has adds",
    "date": "2026-10-30T01:55:06.000Z",
    "thumbsUpCount": 0,
    "appVersion": "9.1.92.3058",
    "replyText": "Hi. Thanks for sharing this. We hear you and we'll pass your feedback along to the Ads team...",
    "replyDate": "2026-10-30T16:35:46.000Z",
    "country": "us",
    "language": "en",
    "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music&reviewId=752659ef-19f9-4479-815d-15cac801ed84"
}
```

Reviewer profile photos and account IDs are not collected; only the public display name the reviewer chose.

### Use it from AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor)

AI assistants can run this Actor as a tool through [Apify's MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp). Add this server URL to any MCP client:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=rsiddiq95/google-play-reviews-scraper
```

Then just ask, for example: *"Get the 200 newest Google Play reviews for the Duolingo app and list the most common complaints."* Agent runs cost the same per result as runs from the console.

### How much does it cost?

Pay per review collected. See the **Pricing** tab. Errors and apps with no reviews are free.

### Works well with

- **[Google Sheets Sync](https://apify.com/rsiddiq95/google-sheets-sync):** send new reviews to a Google Sheet automatically (upsert by `reviewId` to avoid duplicates).

### Tips

- Use **Sort by: Newest first** with **Reviews since** for the fastest daily monitoring.
- Reviews differ by country. Run the same app with several countries to compare markets.

### Limitations

- This Actor reads Google Play's public website, which has no official reviews API. Google can change it; we monitor the Actor and update it.
- The Actor paces itself, and stops cleanly if Google ever shows a bot check.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Google Play reviews?**
Reviews are publicly visible. Use the data responsibly, follow Google's terms and the privacy laws that apply to you, and don't use reviewer names to contact or profile people.

**Something isn't working.**
Open an issue on the **Issues** tab with your input.
