## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## HungerStation restaurants & menus (unofficial)

Collects public HungerStation restaurant listings for Saudi Arabia from district pages such as `https://hungerstation.com/sa-en/restaurants/regions/riyadh/narjis`. When menus are enabled, it also opens each restaurant page and stores the menu.

Unofficial actor, not affiliated with HungerStation or Delivery Hero.

Reviews are omitted. Login, profile, orders, checkout, and `/bh-*` paths are skipped. The crawl speaks `sa-en` only.

HungerStation's robots.txt sets `Crawl-delay: 10`. This actor honors that with one request at a time and `sameDomainDelaySecs: 10` (at least 10 seconds between requests to the site).

### Input

| Field | Default | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `startUrls` | Narjis, Riyadh | District listing URLs and/or restaurant URLs. |
| `maxPagesPerDistrict` | `2` | Listing pages per district start URL. The start URL is the first page. Further pages are `?page=2`, `?page=3`, and so on. |
| `maxRestaurants` | `20` | Stop after this many restaurants. `0` means no limit. |
| `includeMenus` | `false` | Attach menu items from each restaurant page. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Apify residential, Saudi Arabia (`useApifyProxy: true`, `apifyProxyGroups: ["RESIDENTIAL"]`, `apifyProxyCountry: "SA"`) | HungerStation blocks datacenter IPs with HTTP 403. `useApifyProxy: false` calls the site directly. A missing `proxyConfiguration` uses that same object. |

`maxRestaurants: 0` with `includeMenus` turned on can run for hours on a large district.

A restaurant-only start URL has no delivery fee. Fee, minimum order, and ETA are taken from the district listing. The menu page does not include them.

### Output

One dataset item per restaurant:

- `restaurantId`, `name`, `url`
- `city`, `region`, `district`
- `cuisines`
- `rating`, `ratingCount`
- `deliveryFee` (number, SAR), `deliveryFeeText`, `minimumOrder`, `deliveryTimeText`, `deliveryType`
- `latitude`, `longitude`
- `status`, `isOpen`
- `menuItemCount` and `menu` when `includeMenus` is on. Each menu row has `category`, `name`, `description`, `price`, and `currency` (`SAR`)
- `sourcePage`, `scrapedAt`

Prices are treated as Saudi riyal. When both the listing and the menu page were seen, the listing supplies the delivery fee, fee text, minimum order, ETA, delivery type, status, and open flag. Those two pages can disagree about whether a restaurant is open.

If HungerStation or Cloudflare blocks a request (HTTP 403/503, or a challenge page with no page data), the actor logs a warning and does not retry that request. If the crawl saves no restaurants, the run fails. A start list with no allowed HungerStation URL still ends successfully before the crawl.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

HungerStation sa-en district listing URLs and/or restaurant URLs. Other cities are crawled only when you pass them here.

## `maxPagesPerDistrict` (type: `integer`):

Listing pages to open for each district start URL. The start URL is page 1; later pages are requested as ?page=2, ?page=3, and so on.

## `maxRestaurants` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many restaurants. 0 means no limit. With menus enabled, 0 can run for hours on a large district.

## `includeMenus` (type: `boolean`):

Open each restaurant page and attach its menu. Reviews are omitted.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

HungerStation blocks datacenter IPs with HTTP 403. Default is Apify residential proxy in Saudi Arabia (group RESIDENTIAL, country SA). Set useApifyProxy to false to call the site directly.
