## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## App Store Reviews Scraper API: iOS Reviews from Apple's Official Feed

Fetch **iOS App Store customer reviews** from **Apple’s official public endpoints** only — no HTML scraping, no private APIs, no login.

### Who uses it

- **App teams and product managers:** read what users say about each release, country by country, and catch a bad update within a day.
- **Agencies and analysts:** track competitor apps, compare star ratings across markets, and feed review text into sentiment or LLM analysis.
- **Support and reputation teams:** schedule a daily run with `onlyNew` and `maxRating: 2` to get only fresh low-star reviews.

Data sources:

- **Customer Reviews RSS (JSON):** `https://itunes.apple.com/{country}/rss/customerreviews/page={1-10}/id={appId}/sortBy=mostRecent/json`
- **iTunes Search API:** resolve apps by name
- **iTunes Lookup API:** app title and metadata

### What you get

One dataset row per review:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `appId` | Numeric App Store ID |
| `appName` | App title (lookup for that country) |
| `country` | Storefront country code |
| `reviewId` | Stable review identifier |
| `title` | Review title |
| `text` | Review body |
| `rating` | Star rating 1–5 |
| `appVersion` | App version the reviewer used |
| `author` | Reviewer display name |
| `date` | Review timestamp (ISO) |
| `voteSum` | Helpfulness vote sum (when present) |
| `voteCount` | Helpfulness vote count (when present) |

### Input

- **apps** — IDs, `apps.apple.com` URLs, or names (search picks the top match).
- **countries** — e.g. `us`, `gb`, `de` in one run.
- **minRating / maxRating** — filter by stars.
- **since** — only reviews on or after a date.
- **limit** — cap total rows.
- **onlyNew** — for schedules: emit only reviews not seen in prior runs (per app + country).
- **maxPages** — 1–10 RSS pages per app per country (~50 reviews per page).

### Limits

Apple’s feed returns the **most recent** reviews per country, up to **about 500** per app (10 pages). Older reviews are not available through this feed. The actor uses **low concurrency** and **retries with backoff** to respect Apple’s rate limits.

Apple’s feed often answers with an empty page even when reviews exist, and its CDN can keep serving that empty answer for a while. The actor re-requests an empty page up to 27 times (the cached feed URLs first, then requests that bypass the cache, a few at a time) before treating it as the end of the feed, so false empty answers do not cut a country short. Some storefronts can stay empty for hours (on 2026-11-05 the US feed was empty for Spotify, Uber, Notion and Duolingo while the UK and German feeds returned full pages), so for broad monitoring list two or three countries. An invalid country code is skipped with a warning (`uk` is read as `gb`) instead of failing the whole run, and the run stops cleanly when your maximum charge is reached.

### Example input

```json
{
  "apps": ["324684580", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uber-request-a-ride/id368677368"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"],
  "minRating": 1,
  "limit": 100
}
```

### Example output

```json
{
  "appId": "324684580",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "gb",
  "reviewId": "1234567890",
  "title": "Great app",
  "text": "…",
  "rating": 5,
  "appVersion": "9.1.94",
  "author": "User name",
  "date": "2026-11-01T12:00:00-07:00",
  "voteSum": 2,
  "voteCount": 2
}
```

### Scheduled monitoring

Turn on **onlyNew** and schedule daily runs to collect new reviews only — ideal for reputation alerts (pair with **maxRating: 1** for one-star watches).

### Pricing

**$0.08 per 1,000 reviews** (pay per event: one `review` event per row saved). Reviews dropped by your star or date filters are free. Example: one app in 3 countries, about 1,500 reviews, costs about $0.12. A daily only-new run usually returns a few dozen reviews for a fraction of a cent.

### FAQ

**Why at most about 500 reviews per country?** That is how far back Apple's official reviews feed goes (10 pages of about 50). Run on a schedule with `onlyNew` to build a complete history from today on.

**Can I get reviews from every country?** Add any two-letter App Store country codes to `countries`. Each country is a separate storefront with its own reviews.

**Does it need a login, proxy or API key?** No. It uses Apple's public feeds only.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store numeric IDs, App Store URLs (apps.apple.com/.../id123), or app names to search (first match in the default country).

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store country codes (e.g. us, gb, de). Each country returns up to ~500 most recent reviews (10 pages × ~50).

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Only include reviews with at least this rating (1–5). Leave empty for no minimum.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Only include reviews with at most this rating (1–5). Useful for 1-star alert monitoring.

## `since` (type: `string`):

ISO date or datetime. Skip reviews older than this (most recent sort).

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum total reviews to save across all apps and countries. Leave empty for everything the feed has (up to ~500 per app per country).

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

For scheduled runs: skip reviews already returned in a previous run (per app and country). State is stored in the run's key-value store.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Apple exposes up to 10 RSS pages per app per country (~50 reviews each).

```
# Actor output Schema
## `reviews` (type: `string`):
