## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Universal Job Aggregator

Search every major job board at once and get back one **deduplicated** list.
The same role cross-posted to Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Google shows up as
**one** job that lists all the boards it appeared on and every apply link.

### Two modes

- **Search** — a job title + location across all boards. For job seekers,
  market research, and building a jobs feed.
- **Company** — every open role at one company across all boards. A clean
  hiring-signal / competitive-intelligence view of who a company is recruiting.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `mode` | `search` (term + location) or `company` (all roles at a company). |
| `query` | Job title / keyword (search mode). |
| `location` | City / region (search mode). |
| `company` | Company name (company mode). |
| `boards` | Which boards to query; defaults fit the mode. |
| `max_per_board` | Cap per board (1–200). |

### Output

A `job_summary` row (raw vs unique counts, how many were cross-posted, per-board
errors), then one row per **unique** role: `title`, `company`, `location`,
`salary_text`/`min`/`max`, `remote`, `posted`, `source_boards` (all boards it
was on) and `apply_urls` (all apply links). Duplicates are merged on a
normalized company + title + city key, so "Senior Software Engineer" at "Nike,
Inc." in "Portland, OR" and "Software Engineer" at "Nike" in "Portland" collapse
into one row.

### Uses

- **Job feeds / boards** — one clean, deduped source across ten boards.
- **Hiring intelligence** — company mode shows a competitor's whole open-roles
  footprint and, over repeated runs, their hiring velocity.
- **Recruiting** — find every place a role is posted, with all apply links.

A board that returns nothing or errors is listed under `errors` and the rest
proceed. Salary and rating fields appear where a board publishes them.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

search = jobs matching a term+location across boards; company = every open role at one company.

## `query` (type: `string`):

Job title / keyword (search mode).

## `location` (type: `string`):

City / region (search mode).

## `company` (type: `string`):

Company name (company mode) — returns all its open roles across boards.

## `boards` (type: `array`):

Which job boards to query. Defaults to the ones that fit the chosen mode.

## `max_per_board` (type: `integer`):

Cap per board (1-200).

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many sub-scrapers to run at once. Keep at or below your plan's concurrent-run limit (free plan = 5).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "mode": "search",
  "query": "software engineer",
  "location": "New York",
  "company": "Stripe",
  "boards": [
    "indeed",
    "linkedin",
    "glassdoor",
    "google"
  ],
  "max_per_board": 50,
  "concurrency": 4
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

One row per unique role, listing every board it appeared on and all apply URLs.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "query": "software engineer",
    "location": "New York",
    "company": "Stripe",
    "boards": [
        "glassdoor",
        "google"
    ],
    "max_per_board": 50,
    "concurrency": 4
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("s-r/universal-job-aggregator").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
