## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Instagram Trending Audio

Get the **Instagram Reels audio trending right now in any country**: songs and original sounds that **Instagram itself marks as trending** there (the ↗ arrow in the app), ranked by **how many creators are using them this week**, with the **exact number of Reels** made with each sound, its **daily growth**, the top Reels, the Spotify link and an audio preview.

```json
{ "countries": ["US"], "maxSounds": 50 }
```

No Instagram login, no cookies, no browser. Use it as an **Instagram trending audio finder**, a **trending audio list for Reels** you refresh every day, or an **Instagram trending audio API** for content calendars, music marketing and agencies. Instagram shows a different trend list in every country, so each country is read **from an IP in that country**: India gets Indian trends, the UK gets British ones.

#### What you get

Real example, 18 October 2026, United States, 198 creators posting in English sampled, top of 208 trending sounds:

| # | sound | artist | trending | creators using it | Reels with this audio | top Reel plays |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | BbY WOW | KAROL G, Judeline, rusowsky | yes | 9 | 908,609 | 814,021 |
| 2 | Nicole Kidman | ADÉLA | yes | 7 | 371,430 | 2,023,452 |
| 3 | Stay Sexy | HUGEL, LaBritney, Mili | yes | 7 | 80,103 | 571,696 |
| 4 | Khalouni Neich | Yusuf Ekşioğlu | yes | 6 | 67,550 | 7,377,143 |
| 5 | Stop The Wedding! | Ashe | yes | 5 | 23,207 | 882,991 |
| 6 | Shine | HUGEL, David Guetta, French Montana | yes | 5 | 16,750 | 5,382,665 |
| 7 | Dogs In Our Twenties | Dan + Shay | yes | 3 | 3,925 | 199,373 |

Every row:

| Field | Example | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| `title`, `artist`, `artistUsername` | Stop The Wedding!, Ashe, ashemusic | the song, or the original audio and its creator |
| `isTrending` | true | Instagram's own trending flag in that country |
| `creatorsInSample`, `reelsInSample`, `samplePlays` | 5, 6, 3,410,000 | how many sampled creators used it in their Reels of the last 14 days, and the plays of those Reels |
| `reelsCount`, `reelsCountText` | 23207, 23.2K reels | all Reels on Instagram that use the audio (exact) |
| `reelsGrowth`, `reelsGrowthPerDay`, `reelsGrowthPercent` | 4120, 4120, 21.6 | new Reels since the previous day's list (from the second day of a country) |
| `isOriginalAudio` | false | original audio recorded by a creator (voiceover, meme, remix) or a released song |
| `topReelUrl`, `topReelPlays`, `topReels` | instagram.com/reel/... | the most played Reels using the sound (link, plays, likes, creator) |
| `audioUrl`, `spotifyUrl`, `previewUrl`, `coverUrl` | instagram.com/reels/audio/... | the sound page (open it in the app to use the audio), Spotify track, audio file, cover |
| `durationSeconds`, `isExplicit`, `newestReelAt` | 191.2, false, 2026-10-17 | |
| `isNew`, `previousPosition` | true, 12 | compared with your previous run (monitoring) |

#### How it works

Instagram's trending audio list is only in the app, behind a login. The Actor builds it the open way, every day:

1. It reads the Reels pages of popular sounds and collects the creators posting with them, keeping creators who write in the country's languages (English for the US, UK, Canada, Australia; Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and the other Indian languages for India; Portuguese for Brazil...).
2. It reads each creator's latest Reels **from an IP in the country** and notes the audio of every Reel of the last 14 days and whether Instagram marks it as trending there.
3. The trending sounds it finds lead to more creators (a second wave), until 150 creators of the country are sampled (you can set 30-600).
4. Every sound gets its page read for the exact Reels count, the top Reels and the links.

The list of each country is **built once a day and shared**: the first run of the day builds it (2-4 minutes), every later run reads it in seconds and pays only for the sounds.

#### Why this Actor

| | This Actor | Instagram audio scrapers |
|---|---|---|
| Input | none: the trending list, ready | a song name or an audio link you already have |
| Trending flag | Instagram's own, **per country** | one global flag or none |
| Ranking | creators using the sound this week | none |
| Growth | new Reels per day since the previous list | no |
| Countries | any (US, UK, India, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Germany...) | no country |
| Price | $1.99 per 1,000 sounds, the day's list is shared | $2-10 per 1,000 rows |

#### Get new trending sounds every day

Save your input as a task, add a daily schedule and turn on **Only new sounds**: each run returns only the sounds that entered the list since the previous one. Without it every row still has `isNew` and `previousPosition`. Connect the dataset to Google Sheets, Slack or email with an Apify integration.

#### Pricing

Pay per result, no subscription:

| Event | Price | When |
|---|---|---|
| Sound | $1.99 per 1,000 ($1.79 on Scale, $1.59 on Business) | each sound in the results |
| Fresh country list | $0.04 | once per country, only when your run builds today's list itself |
| Local sample outside the US | $0.30 | once per country other than the US, together with a fresh list (its Reels go through residential IPs in the country) |
| Run start | $0.001 | |

Examples: 50 US sounds from today's shared list = **$0.10**; the first US run of the day = $0.14; 50 sounds for India when nobody built today's Indian list yet = $0.44, later the same day $0.10.

#### FAQ

**Is this the same list as in the Instagram app?** The `isTrending` flag is Instagram's own for that country. The app shows a short personal list; this Actor shows every trending sound used by the sampled creators, ranked by how many of them use it.

**Why are some trending sounds from another country?** Instagram marks sounds as trending by where they are used, and diaspora creators bring their songs: an Indian Navratri song can trend in the US in October.

**Can business accounts use these sounds?** Business accounts on Instagram can use original audio and the Meta Sound Collection, not most licensed songs. Choose **Original audio only** in Sound type to get the sounds you can use.

**How fresh is it?** Today's list (UTC day). Turn on **Build a fresh list** to sample again now.

**Do I need an Instagram account?** No.

#### Use with the API and AI agents

Run it from your code or an AI agent with the Apify API, the Apify MCP server or the Python and JavaScript clients; read the results from the dataset (`?view=sounds` for the main table).

# Actor input Schema

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes, one per line (US, GB, IN, CA, AU, DE, BR, ID...). Instagram marks different sounds as trending in each country: the Actor reads the Reels from an IP in that country.

## `maxSounds` (type: `integer`):

The top N sounds per country, used by the most creators first.

## `soundType` (type: `string`):

Songs are released tracks from Instagram's music library; original audio is recorded by creators (voiceovers, memes, remixes).

## `trendingOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only sounds with Instagram's trending arrow in that country. Turn off to get every popular sound of the sample, trending or not (isTrending column).

## `minCreators` (type: `integer`):

Only sounds used by at least this many different creators of the sample. Empty or 1 = every sound.

## `topReels` (type: `integer`):

The most played Reels that use each sound (link, plays, likes, creator). 0 = none.

## `sampleCreators` (type: `integer`):

How many creators' latest Reels are read to rank the sounds. More creators = more sounds and a steadier ranking. Today's shared list is used when it was built from at least 80% of this number.

## `forceFresh` (type: `boolean`):

Ignore today's shared list and sample again (charged as a fresh list).

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

For scheduled runs (save the input as a task and add a schedule). The first run returns the list and remembers it; every later run returns only sounds that were not in it before. Without it, every row still has isNew and previousPosition.

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Name of the memory used by isNew, previousPosition and Only new sounds. Use a different name for each task.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many Instagram requests run at the same time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

US requests go through Apify datacenter proxies, other countries through residential IPs in the country. The default works.

## `debugLog` (type: `boolean`):

Log every refused request (for troubleshooting).
