## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Remote Jobs API: Remote OK, Himalayas, Jobicy & Arbeitnow Scraper

**Get today's remote and work-from-home jobs from 4 remote job boards in one clean, deduplicated dataset.** Search by keyword (e.g. `python`, `customer support`, `marketing`) and region (e.g. `Europe`, `USA`, worldwide). Each row includes the title, company, salary range, location restrictions, tags, seniority, posting date, the original job and apply links, and the full description as plain text.

Every board is read through its **official public job API**, so there are no broken HTML scrapers, CAPTCHAs or proxy bills. You pay **$1 per 1,000 jobs**, and only for jobs saved.

**Popular uses:** running a remote job board or newsletter, daily remote-job alerts to Slack, email or Google Sheets, remote hiring trend research, and feeding AI job-matching apps and agents.

| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| Remote and work-from-home jobs from remote job boards | **this Actor** |
| Jobs straight from 13,000+ company career sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable…) by title, country and remote | [Job Search API: Career Site Jobs](https://apify.com/saadhazz/career-site-job-search) |
| Every job from a list of specific companies | [ATS Jobs API](https://apify.com/saadhazz/ats-jobs-api) |

### Why this remote jobs scraper?

- **4 boards, 1 schema.** Himalayas, Remote OK, Jobicy and Arbeitnow (remote roles only) all come back with the same fields, so you can skip writing per-site parsers.
- **Cross-board deduplication.** The same job is often posted on several boards. We keep one copy per company + title.
- **Clean output.** Dates are ISO 8601 UTC, salaries are numbers with currency and period, descriptions are HTML-free text, and location restrictions come as an array.
- **Reliable.** It uses official APIs with retries, backoff and response validation. If one board is down you still get the other three, and the `SOURCE_REPORT` record tells you what happened.
- **Attribution built in.** Every row includes `jobUrl` (the original listing) and an `attribution` string, so you can meet each board's terms when you republish.
- **Cheap and predictable.** You pay only for jobs saved to the dataset. Duplicates and filtered-out jobs cost nothing.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | Keeps jobs whose title, tags or category contain any term, e.g. `python`, `data engineer`, `customer support`. Leave empty to get every recent job. |
| `excludeKeywords` | Drops jobs whose title contains any of these words, e.g. `senior`, `intern`. |
| `locations` | Keeps jobs open to these regions, e.g. `Europe`, `USA`, `Canada`. Jobs open worldwide are always kept. |
| `sources` | Picks which boards to query (default: all 4). |
| `postedWithinDays` | Only returns jobs posted in the last N days (default 14). |
| `includeDescription` | Includes the full description as plain text (default on). |
| `dedupe` | Removes cross-board duplicates (default on). |
| `maxPerSource`, `maxJobs` | Caps the number of results. |

Example:

```json
{ "searchTerms": ["python", "data engineer"], "excludeKeywords": ["intern"], "locations": ["Europe"], "postedWithinDays": 7 }
```

### Output example

```
You can download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or read it through the Apify API. Each run also stores a `SOURCE_REPORT` record (how many jobs were fetched and matched per board) and an `OUTPUT_STATS` record in the key-value store.
### Remote jobs API comparison
| | This Actor | Calling each board's API yourself | Single-board remote scrapers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boards in one run | 4 (Remote OK, Himalayas, Jobicy, Arbeitnow) | 1 per integration | 1 |
| Cross-board deduplication | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| One schema, numeric salary, ISO dates | ✅ | ❌ | varies |
| Keyword, region and date filters | ✅ | partly | varies |
| Price | $1 / 1,000 jobs | free + your dev time | $1–$5 / 1,000 |
Want remote jobs straight from company career sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby…) instead of job boards? Use [Job Search API: Career Site Jobs](https://apify.com/saadhazz/career-site-job-search) with **Remote jobs only** on.
### Pricing
Pricing is pay-per-event: **$0.001 per job saved ($1 per 1,000 jobs)**. A daily run of 300 jobs costs about $0.30. To cap spending, set *Max total charge* in the run options. The Actor stops cleanly as soon as the cap is reached and keeps everything already collected.
### Scheduling & alerts
Create an Apify Schedule (for example, daily at 07:00) with `postedWithinDays: 1`. Then send new jobs to Slack, Google Sheets or a webhook with Apify integrations. To skip jobs you have already seen, dedupe on `source + sourceJobId`.
### Run it from code: API, Python, JavaScript or cURL
Every Apify Actor is also a REST API. Get your token in Apify Console under **Settings → API & Integrations**, then:
**cURL** (runs the Actor and returns the remote jobs in one call):
```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/saadhazz~remote-jobs-aggregator/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"searchTerms": ["python"], "postedWithinDays": 7, "maxJobs": 200}'
```
**Python** (`pip install apify-client`):
```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient

client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("saadhazz/remote-jobs-aggregator").call(run_input={"searchTerms": ["python"], "postedWithinDays": 7, "maxJobs": 200})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```
**JavaScript / Node.js** (`npm i apify-client`):
```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';

const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('saadhazz/remote-jobs-aggregator').call({"searchTerms": ["python"], "postedWithinDays": 7, "maxJobs": 200});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```
### Use it with AI agents (MCP), Make, Zapier, n8n and Google Sheets
- **AI agents and LLM apps:** connect Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client to `https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=saadhazz/remote-jobs-aggregator` and the agent can call this Actor as a tool.
- **No-code:** use the official Apify integrations for Make, Zapier and n8n, or export the dataset straight to Google Sheets, CSV, Excel or JSON.
- **Scheduling and webhooks:** create a Schedule in Apify Console (e.g. every morning) and add a webhook or Slack/email integration to get notified when new data is ready.
### Is this legal? Attribution requirements
This Actor only calls the free public APIs these boards publish for developers:
- **Himalayas**: [Remote Jobs API](https://himalayas.app/api). Show a link back to the job on himalayas.app.
- **Remote OK**: [remoteok.com/api](https://remoteok.com/api). Link back to the job URL and mention Remote OK as the source.
- **Jobicy**: [Remote Jobs API](https://jobicy.com/jobs-rss-feed). Credit Jobicy with a direct link and point apply buttons to the original listing.
- **Arbeitnow**: [Job Board API](https://www.arbeitnow.com/blog/job-board-api). Link back to the job.
If you republish the jobs, keep `jobUrl` and the attribution visible. The data contains job postings only, with no personal data about candidates. We leave out boards whose terms forbid redistribution (for example Remotive) and any site that blocks automated access.
### FAQ
**How fresh is the data?** It is live: every run calls the boards' APIs at run time. Some boards cache their feed for a few hours.
**Why did a board return few jobs?** Remote OK and Jobicy publish only their latest postings (about 100 per tag) in the API, and Arbeitnow is mostly Germany-based with a remote filter applied. Check `SOURCE_REPORT` to see each board's counts.
**Can I add more boards?** Yes, open an issue on the Actor page. We only add boards that offer a public API or explicitly allow automated access.
**Do you have jobs from company career sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable)?** Yes. [Job Search API: Career Site Jobs](https://apify.com/saadhazz/career-site-job-search) searches 400,000+ of them by title, country and remote, and [ATS Jobs API](https://apify.com/saadhazz/ats-jobs-api) pulls every job from the companies you list.
**Why not Remotive?** Its API terms ask that its jobs are not passed on to third-party sites and point to a paid private API for that, so we leave it out. Every board we include publishes a public API for this kind of use.
