## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper

Collect customer reviews from the [Apple App Store](https://apps.apple.com/) for any iOS, iPadOS, or macOS app. Provide one or more app IDs or App Store URLs and a country storefront, and receive a clean dataset of review text, ratings, author names, dates, developer responses, and scrape timestamps. No login required.

### Use with AI Agents (MCP)

Connect this actor to any MCP-compatible AI client, including Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, Cursor, VS Code, LangChain and LlamaIndex.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apify": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=santamaria-automations/app-store-reviews-scraper",
        "--header",
        "Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_TOKEN>"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Example prompt: "Use `app-store-reviews-scraper` to collect 100 reviews for app ID 389801252 from the US App Store and summarise the main complaints."

### Features

- **Multi-app support**: scrape reviews for several apps in one run, with no duplicates inside an app
- **Country storefront selection**: read the reviews of any regional App Store
- **Deep paging**: up to 10,000 reviews per app
- **App ID or URL input**: accepts numeric app IDs or full App Store URLs
- **Developer responses and edit flag**: included when present
- **No credentials required**: no Apple ID needed
- **Pay-per-result**: only pay for reviews you receive; runs that find nothing cost nothing

### Example input

```json
{
  "appIds": ["389801252", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo/id570060128"],
  "country": "us",
  "maxReviews": 100
}
```

### Input Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `appIds` | array | `["389801252"]` | App IDs (e.g. `"389801252"`) or App Store URLs (e.g. `"https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252"`). A single text is accepted too. |
| `country` | string | `"us"` | Two-letter ISO country code of the App Store storefront. |
| `maxReviews` | integer | `100` | Maximum reviews per app (1-10000). |

Reviews come in Apple's default order. Apple offers no sort option, so the actor cannot return "newest first". Each review carries its `date`, so you can sort the dataset afterwards.

### What you get

One row per review:

| Field | Type | Example | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `review_id` | string | `"10987654321"` | Unique review ID from the App Store |
| `app_id` | string | `"389801252"` | App Store app ID |
| `app_name` | string | `"Instagram"` | App name as listed on the App Store (empty if it could not be determined) |
| `country` | string | `"us"` | Two-letter country code of the storefront |
| `rating` | integer | `5` | Star rating from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) |
| `title` | string | `"Love this app!"` | Review title |
| `body` | string | `"This is the best photo sharing app..."` | Full review text |
| `author` | string | `"JohnDoe123"` | Public App Store username of the reviewer |
| `date` | string | `"2026-01-21T04:48:38Z"` | When the review was written |
| `is_edited` | boolean | `false` | Whether the reviewer edited the review |
| `developer_response` | string | `"Thanks for your feedback!"` | Developer's public reply (empty if none) |
| `developer_response_date` | string | `"2023-08-02T12:09:03Z"` | Date of the developer's reply (empty if none) |
| `scraped_at` | string | `"2026-10-21T10:00:00Z"` | When the record was scraped |

### Rate limits

Requests are spaced out to stay within Apple's limits. If Apple limits the rate, the actor waits and retries; if Apple keeps refusing, the run stops, keeps what it collected, and reports "Apple rate limit reached after N reviews" in the run status. Run again later to continue.

### Pricing

| Event | Price | Description |
|-------|-------|-------------|
| `actor-start` | **$0.005** | Charged once, only when the run saves at least one review |
| `app-store-review-result` | **$0.0002** | Per review saved to the dataset ($0.20 per 1,000 reviews) |

### Data protection

This actor returns only data that is publicly visible on the source pages. Results can include personal data, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses and addresses of private persons, sole traders or contact persons. Where the source labels an entry type, it is included so you can filter the results yourself. Review authors appear with their public App Store usernames.

You are responsible for using the data lawfully, including the GDPR/DSGVO, national data-protection laws and unfair-competition rules (e.g. UWG) for marketing and outreach.
