## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Clutch.co Scraper - B2B Agency Directory

Scrape company profiles from [Clutch.co](https://clutch.co), a B2B reviews and ratings platform. Extract ratings, reviews, pricing, services, and contact details for IT agencies, marketing firms, and development companies.

### Features

- **SERP scraping**: Extract agency listings from any Clutch.co directory page
- **Profile details**: Optionally fetch full profile pages for rich data (description, website, tagline, industries, client breakdown)
- **Deduplication**: Automatically deduplicates agencies across pages and URLs
- **Pagination**: Follows pagination automatically up to your maxResults limit

### Use with AI Agents (MCP)

Connect this actor to any MCP-compatible AI client: Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, Cursor, VS Code, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom agents.

**Apify MCP server URL:**

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=santamaria-automations/clutch-co-scraper
```

**Example prompt once connected:**

> "Use `clutch-co-scraper` to scrape company data from clutch co. Return results as a table."

Clients that support dynamic tool discovery (Claude.ai, VS Code) will receive the full input schema automatically via `add-actor`.

### Input

### Output

Each result contains:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `id` | Clutch company ID |
| `name` | Company name |
| `tagline` | Company tagline/slogan |
| `description` | Company description (the full text when profile details are on, otherwise the summary shown in the listing) |
| `website` | Company website URL |
| `phone` | Phone number |
| `email` | Email address (when available) |
| `address` | Street address |
| `city` | City |
| `country` | Country name, e.g. `United States`, `Canada`, `Poland` |

| `employee_count` | Employee count range |
| `founded_year` | Year the company was founded |
| `services` | List of services offered |
| `industries_served` | Industries the company serves |
| `clients` | Client size breakdown |
| `clutch_rank` | Running position in the results of the search URL, counted across pages (1 = first result) |
| `verified` | Whether the company is Clutch verified |
| `source_url` | Clutch profile URL |
| `source_platform` | Always "clutch.co" |
| `scraped_at` | ISO 8601 timestamp |
| `search_url` | The search URL this result came from |

### Proxy handling

The actor starts on a datacenter proxy. If clutch.co refuses that connection with a Cloudflare block, it switches to a fallback proxy for the rest of the run, which needs access to that proxy group on your Apify plan. If your plan does not include it, the run ends with a clear status message and nothing is charged. The `unblockMode` input controls this: `auto` (default), `off` or `on`.

### Pricing

- **Start**: $0.001 once per run that returns results
- **Listing only**: $0.003 per agency
- **Full profile**: $0.008 per agency (charged instead of the listing price for that agency, not in addition)

Example: 100 agencies with full profiles = $0.001 + 100 x $0.008 = $0.801.

### Data protection

This actor returns only data that is publicly visible on the source pages. Results can include personal data, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses and addresses of private persons, sole traders or contact persons. Where the source labels an entry type, it is included so you can filter the results yourself.

You are responsible for using the data lawfully, including the GDPR/DSGVO, national data-protection laws and unfair-competition rules (e.g. UWG) for marketing and outreach.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchUrls` (type: `array`):

One or more Clutch.co directory listing URLs. Examples: https://clutch.co/developers, https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing, https://clutch.co/web-developers, https://clutch.co/it-services/managed-service-providers

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of agencies to scrape across all search URLs.

## `maxResultsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of agencies to take from each search URL. Leave empty for no per-URL limit (only the overall Maximum Results applies).

## `unblockMode` (type: `string`):

Advanced. Auto switches to a fallback proxy only if the site refuses the normal connection. Off never uses the fallback proxy and ends the run if the site refuses requests. On starts on the fallback proxy right away.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch each agency's profile page for full description, website, tagline, founded year, industries served, and client breakdown. Slower but much richer data.
