## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Idealo Scraper - Price Comparison Data

Get product prices, offer counts, ratings and specifications from [idealo](https://www.idealo.de), the price comparison site for Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom. Search by keyword or paste a category page, and receive one row per product, ready for price monitoring, market research and catalog enrichment.

### What you can do with it

- Search idealo by keyword and collect the best price, the number of offers, the rating and the product image for every hit.
- Scrape a whole product category from its idealo URL.
- Turn on product details to add the specification table, brand, category, EAN (for model variants) and the shop with the lowest item price (shipping not included).
- Switch between the five country sites. Currency follows the site (EUR, GBP for the UK).
- Cap the number of products and the spend per run.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `searchQuery` | string | `laptop` (prefill) | Product search term, for example `iphone 15` or `waschmaschine`. Used when `categoryUrl` is empty. If both are empty, `laptop` is searched. |
| `categoryUrl` | string | none | An idealo category URL. Takes priority over `searchQuery`. |
| `maxResults` | integer | `10` | Maximum products to return (1 to 1000). A number given as text, like `"10"`, is accepted. |
| `includeDetails` | boolean | `false` | Open every product page for specifications, brand, category, EAN and the shop with the lowest item price. `"true"` as text is accepted. |
| `country` | string | `de` | One of `de`, `fr`, `es`, `it`, `uk`. |

An empty input `{}` runs the default search with the defaults above.

#### Example inputs

Search with prices only:

```json
{
  "searchQuery": "waschmaschine",
  "maxResults": 100,
  "includeDetails": false,
  "country": "de"
}
```

A category page with product details:

```json
{
  "categoryUrl": "https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/ProductCategory/3751.html",
  "maxResults": 50,
  "includeDetails": true
}
```

#### Supported URLs

| Page | Example |
|------|---------|
| Category | `https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/ProductCategory/3751.html` |
| Search | use `searchQuery` instead of a URL |

Use the domain that matches the `country` you select (`idealo.fr`, `idealo.es`, `idealo.it`, `idealo.co.uk`).

### Output

One row per product. Fields marked "details only" are empty unless `includeDetails` is `true`.

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `name` | string | Product name |
| `product_url` | string | Product page on idealo |
| `product_image_url` | string | Product image |
| `description` | string | Short product summary (key specs in one line) |
| `best_price` | number | Lowest price listed on idealo, in `price_currency` |
| `price_currency` | string | `EUR`, or `GBP` for the UK |
| `price_count` | integer | Number of shop offers |
| `rating` | number | Average user rating, 0 to 5. Empty when the product has no rating |
| `review_count` | integer | Number of ratings. Empty when idealo does not show it |
| `brand` | string | Brand (details only) |
| `category` | string | Category path (details only) |
| `ean` | string | EAN/GTIN (details only). Filled for a specific model variant; empty for grouped product pages that cover several variants |
| `merchant_name` | string | Shop with the lowest item price, shipping not included (details only) |
| `merchant_price` | number | Price at that shop (details only) |
| `specs` | object | Specification table as key/value pairs, in the site language (details only) |
| `source_url` | string | The search or category URL the row came from |
| `source_platform` | string | `idealo.de`, `idealo.fr`, `idealo.es`, `idealo.it` or `idealo.uk` |
| `scraped_at` | string | ISO 8601 timestamp |

#### Sample row

```json
{
  "product_image_url": "https://cdn.idealo.com/folder/Product/202616/3/202616394/s1_produktbild_mittelgross/lenovo-v15-g4.jpg",
  "name": "Lenovo V15 G4",
  "description": "Multimedia Notebook, 15,6 Zoll, Bildformat 16:9, Akkulaufzeit 8,4 h, 1,65 kg",
  "brand": "Lenovo",
  "category": "Elektroartikel > Computer > Notebooks",
  "best_price": 365.66,
  "price_currency": "EUR",
  "price_count": 518,
  "rating": 4.2,
  "review_count": 5,
  "ean": null,
  "product_url": "https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/202616394_-v15-g4-lenovo.html",
  "merchant_name": "eBay",
  "merchant_price": 365.66,
  "specs": {
    "Displaygröße": "15,6 Zoll",
    "Gewicht": "1,65 kg",
    "Akkulaufzeit": "8,4 h"
  },
  "source_platform": "idealo.de",
  "scraped_at": "2026-10-26T06:48:03.709Z"
}
```

Without details, `brand`, `category`, `ean`, `merchant_name`, `merchant_price` and `specs` are `null`.

### Pricing

The actor uses pay-per-event pricing. Current prices are shown on the Pricing tab of the actor page.

| Event | When it is charged |
|-------|--------------------|
| `ecommerce-start` | Once per run, together with the first delivered product |
| `ecommerce-serp-result` | Per product delivered without details |
| `ecommerce-detail-result` | Per product delivered with details. It replaces the result event for that product, it is not added to it |

A product whose detail page could not be loaded is charged as a result without details. A run that finds nothing is not charged. Set a maximum total charge for the run and the actor stops delivering products when the next one would exceed it.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

      ]
    }
  }
}
```
Example prompt: "Use `idealo-de-scraper` to find the 20 cheapest washing machines on idealo.de and return name, best price and number of offers as a table."
### FAQ
**How do I get a category URL?**
Open idealo, browse to a product category and copy the address from the browser. It looks like `https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/ProductCategory/3751.html`.
**Why are some products without a rating?**
idealo shows no rating for products nobody has rated yet. `rating` and `review_count` are then empty.
**Why is `ean` empty?**
Pages that group several model variants (for example one phone in all colors) carry no single EAN. Search for the exact variant to get its EAN.
**Why does a product show fewer offers with details than in the list?**
The list and the product page are read at different moments, and the product page counts the offers for that exact product. Offer counts change during the day.
**Why did my search return nothing?**
idealo reported no hits for the search term. Try a more general term. The run ends successfully and nothing is charged.
**How do I stop at a budget?**
Set a maximum total charge for the run in the run options. The actor stops after the last product that fits and reports "Stopped at the max charge limit. N products delivered."
**How many products can I get per search?**
Up to 1000 per run. idealo shows about 35 products per result page. The actor continues through the pages until `maxResults` is reached or the results end.
# Actor input Schema
## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):
Product search term (e.g. 'laptop', 'iphone 15', 'waschmaschine'). If both searchQuery and categoryUrl are empty, 'laptop' is used.
## `categoryUrl` (type: `string`):
Direct idealo category URL to scrape (e.g., 'https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/ProductCategory/3751.html'). Overrides searchQuery if provided.
## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of products to scrape from search results.
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Fetch each product's detail page for specifications, EAN/GTIN, brand, description and the merchant offer. Slower but richer data. A product with details is billed as a detail result instead of a search result.
## `country` (type: `string`):
Idealo country variant to scrape. Each country has its own domain, local merchants, and currency.
## Actor input object example
```json
{
  "searchQuery": "laptop",
  "maxResults": 10,
  "includeDetails": false,
  "country": "de"
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `products` (type: `string`):
Dataset containing scraped product data
