## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Business Day Checker (public holidays, 100+ countries)

"Is this a working day in Germany?" "What is the due date 10 business days after this invoice?" Give a country and dates, get one row per date with a plain answer. No API key.

### Output

```json
{
  "date": "2026-12-25",
  "country": "US",
  "weekday": "Friday",
  "isBusinessDay": false,
  "isWeekend": false,
  "isPublicHoliday": true,
  "holidayName": "Christmas Day",
  "nextBusinessDay": "2026-12-28",
  "previousBusinessDay": "2026-12-24",
  "addBusinessDays": 3,
  "resultDate": "2026-12-30",
  "summary": "2026-12-25 (Friday) in US is not a business day (public holiday: Christmas Day); next business day 2026-12-28; +3 business days = 2026-12-30"
}
```

`addBusinessDays` and `resultDate` appear only when you set that input.

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `country` | 2-letter ISO code (`US`, `GB`, `DE`, `RO`...). |
| `dates` | List of `YYYY-MM-DD` (max 200 per run, years 1990-2100). |
| `addBusinessDays` | Optional. Date plus N business days (negative goes back; max 366). |
| `region` | Optional subdivision such as `US-CA`. Regional holidays count only when set. |
| `weekend` | `sat-sun` (default), `fri-sat` (e.g. Gulf countries) or `sun`. |

### Rules

- A business day is not a weekend day and not a public holiday. Nationwide public holidays always count; regional ones only for the `region` you give.
- Observances and non-public days (for example "Lincoln's Birthday") do not count as holidays.
- Holidays are taken on their official date. "Observed" shifts (for example a US holiday on a Saturday observed on Friday) are not applied.
- Company-specific closures, half days and bank-processing calendars are not covered.

### Good for

- AI agents scheduling deliveries, payments, deadlines or meetings across countries.
- Invoice due dates and SLA calculators.
- Automations that must skip holidays.

### Data source

Public holiday data from the free [Nager.Date](https://date.nager.at) API. This Actor is independent and not affiliated with it. Holiday data can change; verify critical legal deadlines against official sources.

### Pricing

Pay per result (one row = one date). See the pricing box on this page.
