## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Reviews Scraper: Google Play + App Store

Scrape **Google Play and Apple App Store reviews in one run**, with the same clean fields for both stores. Paste app links or IDs, pick countries, and get rating, title, review text, date, app version, helpful votes and developer replies. Export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from code, n8n, Make, Zapier or an AI agent through MCP.

**You only pay for reviews delivered.** Unknown apps and invalid inputs are reported in the results and never charged.

### Why this one

- **Both stores, one schema.** Compare your iOS and Android feedback side by side without stitching two tools together.
- **Many countries at once.** Each country has its own review list on both stores. Add `us`, `gb`, `de`, ... and get them all in one dataset.
- **Built for monitoring.** Sort by newest and set **Only reviews since**. The Actor stops as soon as it reaches older reviews, so a daily scheduled run costs almost nothing.
- **Fast.** No browser and no proxy needed. In our release test it fetched **4,200 reviews from 7 apps in 2 countries in under 11 seconds**.
- **Clear errors.** Every app that can't be read gets a row with an `error` code (`not_found`, `invalid_input`, ...) and a plain-English message.

### Output

Each review is one item:

| Field | Google Play | App Store |
|---|---|---|
| `store` | `google_play` | `app_store` |
| `appId`, `country` | package name, country | numeric ID, country |
| `rating` | 1-5 | 1-5 |
| `title` | — | review title |
| `text` | review text | review text |
| `date` | ISO date | ISO date |
| `appVersion` | version the review was written on | — |
| `thumbsUp` | helpful votes | helpful votes |
| `developerReply`, `developerReplyDate` | if the developer answered | if the developer answered |
| `userName`, `reviewId`, `url` | yes | yes |

```json
{
  "store": "google_play",
  "appId": "com.duolingo",
  "country": "us",
  "rating": 5,
  "title": null,
  "text": "perfect for learning a new language",
  "date": "2026-10-16T10:23:30Z",
  "appVersion": "…",
  "thumbsUp": 0,
  "developerReply": null,
  "status": "ok"
}
```

### Input

| Option | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `apps` | — | Mix of Google Play package names/links and App Store links/IDs. Required |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | 500 | Per app and per country |
| `countries` | `["us"]` | Two-letter codes |
| `language` | `en` | Google Play review language |
| `sort` | `newest` | `newest`, `relevant`, or `rating` (Google Play only) |
| `since` | — | `YYYY-MM-DD`; with newest-first, stops at older reviews |
| `maxRetries` | 3 | Retries when a store refuses a request or a connection drops |
| `proxyConfiguration` | off | Not needed for normal jobs |

Accepted app formats: `com.duolingo`, `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duolingo`, `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo-language-lessons/id570060128`, `id570060128`, `570060128`.

### Use cases

- **Product and ASO teams:** track what users say after each release (filter by `appVersion`).
- **Competitor research:** pull reviews of rival apps across markets and compare ratings and complaints.
- **AI analysis:** feed reviews into an LLM to cluster feature requests and bugs, or run sentiment over time.
- **Support:** find unanswered negative reviews (`developerReply` is empty) and reply.

### Use it from code

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("sblabs/app-reviews-scraper").call(run_input={
    "apps": ["com.duolingo", "id570060128"],
    "countries": ["us", "gb"],
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 1000,
})
for review in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(review["store"], review["rating"], review["text"][:80])
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **one charge per review delivered**, at the price on the Pricing tab. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it reaches it.

### FAQ

**How many reviews can I get?** As many as you set: in testing we paged through 3,000 reviews per app on both stores without issues. The App Store keeps a separate list per country, so add countries to get more.

**Why is `appVersion` empty for App Store reviews?** Apple doesn't include it in this review feed.

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads publicly visible reviews. You are responsible for how you use the data, including the stores' terms and privacy law for reviewer names.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab with the app link.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Google Play package names or links (com.duolingo, play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=...) and App Store links or IDs (apps.apple.com/us/app/.../id570060128, id570060128). Mix both stores in one run.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Stops after this many reviews for each app in each country.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes, e.g. us, gb, de. Each country is a separate review list on both stores.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Google Play review language, e.g. en, de, es. App Store returns the reviews written in each country.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Order of reviews. Use 'Newest first' together with 'Only reviews since' for monitoring.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional date (YYYY-MM-DD). With 'Newest first', the Actor stops as soon as it reaches older reviews, so daily monitoring runs stay cheap.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Extra attempts when a store refuses a request or a connection drops.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for normal use. Both stores answer directly; enable a proxy only for very large jobs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "com.duolingo",
    "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo-language-lessons/id570060128"
  ],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 100,
  "countries": [
    "us"
  ],
  "language": "en",
  "sort": "newest",
  "maxRetries": 3,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `reviews` (type: `string`):

One item per review (both stores, same fields), plus error rows for apps that could not be read.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

No description
