## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Product Hunt Launches Scraper: Daily, Weekly & Monthly

Get **every Product Hunt launch** from the daily, weekly or monthly leaderboards for any date range: name, tagline, votes, comments, daily/weekly/monthly rank, topics, logo and links. Export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from code, n8n, Make, Zapier or an AI agent through MCP.

**You only pay for launches delivered.** Leaderboards that can't be read get an error row and are never charged.

### Why this one

- **Complete leaderboards.** Pages through the whole leaderboard, not just the first screen: all featured launches, or switch off *Featured only* to get every launch of the day.
- **Any period, any range.** Daily, weekly (ISO weeks, as Product Hunt uses) or monthly. Give a start and end date and get every leaderboard in between in one dataset.
- **Fast and light.** No browser. Reads Product Hunt's own data feed, 20 launches per request. In our release test it fetched **240 launches from 7 daily leaderboards in 19 seconds, with zero errors**.
- **Built for monitoring.** Leave the dates empty and it fetches yesterday's leaderboard. Schedule it daily to track competitors, trends or leads.
- **Self-updating.** It reads the query Product Hunt's own site uses on every run, so small site changes don't break it.

### Output

One item per launch:

```json
{
### Use cases
- **Market and trend research:** which categories launch and win each week or month.
- **Lead generation:** new startups launching every day, with links to their sites.
- **Competitor tracking:** see when rivals launch and how they rank.
- **Newsletters and AI digests:** feed yesterday's top launches into an LLM summary.
### Use it from code
```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient

client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("sblabs/product-hunt-launches-scraper").call(run_input={
    "period": "daily",
    "startDate": "2026-10-01",
    "endDate": "2026-10-07",
    "maxLaunchesPerPeriod": 0,
})
for l in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(l["periodLabel"], l["position"], l["name"], l["votes"])
```
### Pricing
Pay per event: **one charge per launch delivered**, at the price on the Pricing tab. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it reaches it.
### FAQ
**Does it include maker names or emails?** No. It returns the public launch data shown on the leaderboards.
**What time zone are dates in?** Pacific time, the same as Product Hunt's leaderboards.
**Is it legal?** The Actor reads publicly visible data. You are responsible for how you use it, including Product Hunt's terms.
**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab with your input.
# Actor input Schema
## `period` (type: `string`):
Which Product Hunt leaderboard to read.
## `startDate` (type: `string`):
First day to cover (YYYY-MM-DD, Pacific time like Product Hunt). Empty = yesterday.
Last day to cover (YYYY-MM-DD). Empty = same as From date. Weekly and monthly modes cover every week or month touching the range.
## `featuredOnly` (type: `boolean`):
On: the launches Product Hunt features on the leaderboard. Off: every launch of the period, including non-featured ones.
## `maxLaunchesPerPeriod` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many launches for each leaderboard. 0 = all.
## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):
How many days/weeks/months to fetch at the same time.
## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):
Retries with a fresh connection when Product Hunt refuses a request.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Product Hunt blocks most data-center traffic, so a residential proxy is used by default.
