## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Google organic search results over HTTP

Fetches public [Google Search](https://www.google.com/search) result pages and extracts observed organic result cards into one record per distinct target URL. The HTTP adapter avoids a browser for ordinary search pages. It does not substitute results from another search engine or emit saved HTML paths as search records.

### Input

Supply `query`, `queries` (a list, or newline-delimited text where the input form uses a textarea), or Google Search URLs containing `q`. `maxItems` and legacy `maxResults` cap total output across queries. `maxPages` or `maxPagesPerQuery` bounds pagination. Language/country fields are passed as Google `hl`/`gl`. Select the `GOOGLE_SERP` proxy group, or explicitly disable Apify Proxy for direct HTTP. Search requests use bounded retries and stop after the requested distinct result count.

### Output

Observed result title, target URL, snippet when present, displayed URL/domain, query, page, rank, source Google URL and retrieval time. Sitelinks are included when present within the result card. Output contains real observed URLs and source text. Missing snippets or optional elements are omitted. You can download the dataset in various formats such as JSON, HTML, CSV, or Excel.

### Supported scope

The verified mode is organic search. AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity addon flags fail clearly when enabled because they require separate authorized provider integrations. Ads, knowledge panels, local packs, shopping, snippets and People Also Ask are not claimed as extracted by this adapter. Existing optional form fields do not imply those features have been verified. No AI answers, ads or guessed snippets are generated to reach a count.

### Availability and diagnostics

Google may return fewer unique results than requested or challenge access. The adapter validates the echoed query when exposed and rejects a different-query response. Access errors and result counts are saved to `RUN_SUMMARY`; duplicate URLs and caps are recorded by `OUTPUT_POLICY`. Proxy usage and compute cost depend on the requested page count and source response time. Keep page/result limits small for quick checks.

Google may expose opaque `/goto` tracking URLs. The adapter follows only Google redirect responses and records the observed external `Location` URL; unresolved tracking links are rejected instead of being counted as organic results.
