## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TruePeopleSearch Scraper

Scrape public people-search profiles from [TruePeopleSearch.com](https://www.truepeoplesearch.com): full name, age, current address with ZIP code, every phone number, emails, aliases and relatives. Search by **name**, **phone number** (reverse lookup), **street address**, or paste **profile and search URLs** from the site.

**Free to try:** run it without any setup and get up to 10 profiles per run. Add your free Scrape.do API token to remove the limit.

### Why most TruePeopleSearch scrapers fail

TruePeopleSearch only serves visitors in the United States, and it sits behind Cloudflare. A request from outside the US is dropped before the page loads, and plain HTTP clients stall on JavaScript challenges and fingerprint checks. This actor fetches every page through the [Scrape.do](https://scrape.do/?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor\&utm_campaign=truepeoplesearch-scraper) web scraping API with a US residential IP, so you don't manage proxies, headers or browsers.

Once a profile loads, the actor reads the structured data block (JSON-LD) the site publishes for search engines. It holds every phone and email on the profile, aliases and the full relatives list, so you get more than the visible page shows.

### What data you get

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `name`, `firstName`, `lastName` | Full name |
| `age` | Age in years |
| `address`, `city`, `state`, `zipCode` | Current address |
| `phones` | Every phone number on the profile, most recent first |
| `primaryPhone` | The first (most recent) phone |
| `emails`, `primaryEmail` | Email addresses on the profile |
| `aliases` | Other names the person is known by |
| `relatives` | Relatives and associates, with full middle names |
| `profileUrl` | The TruePeopleSearch profile |
| `searchQuery` | The name, phone, address or URL that found this profile |
| `scrapedAt` | When the profile was scraped |

### How to use it

1. **Search by name:** add one or more names under **Names to search** and, optionally, a city, state or ZIP code under **Location**. Every person on the result pages is scraped.
2. **Reverse phone lookup:** add US numbers under **Phone numbers**, in any format.
3. **Address lookup:** add addresses under **Street addresses** as `street, city, state`, for example `123 Main St, Dallas, TX`.
4. **URLs:** paste profile URLs (`/find/person/...`) or search result URLs copied from the site under **TruePeopleSearch URLs**.

You can mix all four in one run. A person found by two searches is saved once.

#### Input example

```json
{
    "names": ["John Smith"],
    "location": "Dallas, TX",
    "phoneNumbers": ["(214) 555-0142"],
    "maxItems": 100,
    "scrapeDoToken": "YOUR_SCRAPEDO_TOKEN"
}
```

#### Output example

Each profile is one item. Example (fictional person, illustrative values):

```json
{
    "name": "Jane Doe",
    "firstName": "Jane",
    "lastName": "Doe",
    "age": 23,
    "address": "2912 Northern Ave WE",
    "city": "Washington",
    "state": "DC",
    "zipCode": "20001",
    "phones": ["(202) 555-5555", "(202) 555-0147"],
    "emails": ["janedoe@example.com"],
    "aliases": ["Jane Marie Doe", "Jane D Smith"],
    "relatives": ["John Doe", "Mary Doe", "Robert Smith"],
    "primaryPhone": "(202) 555-5555",
    "primaryEmail": "janedoe@example.com",
    "profileUrl": "https://www.truepeoplesearch.com/find/person/...",
    "searchQuery": "Jane Doe, Washington, DC",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-26T09:00:00.000Z"
}
```

Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML from the run's **Output** tab, or pull them through the Apify API.

### Pricing and your Scrape.do token

There is no per-result fee for this actor; Apify only bills its normal platform usage, which is a fraction of a cent for a typical run. Pages are fetched through the Scrape.do web scraping API:

1. **Free trial, no token** – leave the **Scrape.do API token** field empty and you get up to 10 profiles per run. Good for checking the data before you sign up.
2. **Your own Scrape.do token** – no profile limit. Requests use your Scrape.do credits: every page (one profile, or one search results page) goes through a US residential IP, which is about 10 credits. [Create a free Scrape.do account](https://scrape.do/?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor\&utm_campaign=truepeoplesearch-scraper) to get a token.

### Tips

- **Narrow name searches** with a city or state. Common names return many result pages; **Result pages per search** caps how many are read.
- **Speed:** raise **Parallel requests** if your Scrape.do plan allows more concurrency.
- **Blocked pages are retried automatically** with a new IP. If a profile still fails, it is listed in the log and the run continues.
- **Prefer Python?** The same logic is available as an open-source package: `pip install truepeoplesearch-scraper` ([GitHub](https://github.com/bugrahansss/truepeoplesearch-scraper)). The step-by-step guide is on the [Scrape.do blog](https://scrape.do/blog/true-people-search-scraping/?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor\&utm_campaign=truepeoplesearch-scraper).

### FAQ

**Is scraping TruePeopleSearch legal?** The actor collects data the site shows publicly, but it is personal data about real people. TruePeopleSearch is not a consumer reporting agency, so this data must not be used for decisions about employment, tenant screening, credit or insurance, which the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regulates in the US. You are responsible for using it in line with the site's terms and the privacy laws that apply to you (for example CCPA and GDPR), and for honoring opt-out requests. This is not legal advice.

# Actor input Schema

## `names` (type: `array`):

Full names to look up, one per line (for example "John Smith"). Every person on the result pages is scraped.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Optional city and state, state, or ZIP code applied to every name search (for example "Dallas, TX"). Leave empty to search the whole US.

## `phoneNumbers` (type: `array`):

US phone numbers to look up, one per line, in any format (for example "(214) 555-0142"). The actor scrapes every person linked to the number.

## `addresses` (type: `array`):

US addresses to look up, one per line, written as "street, city, state" (for example "123 Main St, Dallas, TX"). The actor scrapes every person linked to the address.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Profile URLs (truepeoplesearch.com/find/person/...) or search result URLs copied from the site (truepeoplesearch.com/results?..., /resultphone?..., /resultaddress?...).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many profiles in total. Set 0 for no limit. Without your own Scrape.do token the free trial returns up to 10 profiles per run.

## `maxPagesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

How many result pages to read for each name, phone or address search.

## `scrapeDoToken` (type: `string`):

Optional. Find it in your Scrape.do dashboard. Leave empty for the free trial (up to 10 profiles per run).

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many profiles are fetched at the same time when you use your own token. Keep it at or below your Scrape.do plan's concurrency.
