## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Products Scraper: prices, variants, stock, SKUs and images for many stores in one run

Scrape the **public product catalogue of any Shopify store** and get clean rows: **title, vendor, product type, tags, price range, compare-at (was) price, currency, in-stock flag, every variant with SKU, price, compare-at price and options, image URLs and a plain-text description**. Paste a list of store addresses, press Start and get all of them in one dataset. Choose one row per product (variants nested) or one flat row per variant. Export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from the API.

Use it for **price monitoring and competitor tracking, dropshipping and product research, catalogue and assortment analysis, stock and sale tracking, marketplace feeds and datasets for LLM and RAG pipelines**. Works with AI agents through the Apify MCP server. It reads the same `products.json` catalogue every Shopify storefront serves to browsers; no login, no cookies and no proxy are needed.

### Why this one

- **Many stores per run.** Give a list of store URLs; each store is paged 250 products at a time up to your per-store limit.
- **Variant-level detail.** Price, compare-at price, SKU, options and stock flag per variant, or switch to flat one-row-per-variant output for spreadsheets.
- **Collection filter.** Read only `sale` or `mens-shoes` by collection handle, or paste a `/collections/...` link.
- **Only in-stock option.** Keep in-stock variants and skip the rest (skipped products are not charged).
- **Keeps running when a store does not cooperate.** A blocked (403/429), locked (401), password-protected or non-Shopify address gets one error row with the reason; every other store continues, and a store that keeps answering 429 is stopped politely.
- **No personal data.** Catalogue fields only. No emails, phone numbers, customers or orders.
- **Cheap and predictable.** $0.001 per product; `Max products per store` caps every run.
- **Run summary.** A `RUN_SUMMARY` record lists products and pages per store, store errors, HTTP statuses and charged events.

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Store URLs | Store addresses, for example `allbirds.com` or `https://www.gymshark.com`. A `/collections/<handle>` link scrapes only that collection |
| Collection handles | Optional handles applied to every store (`sale`, `mens-shoes`) |
| Max products per store | Default 250, max 50,000 |
| Output mode | `product` (variants nested, default) or `variant` (one flat row per variant) |
| Include image URLs / description text | Default on |
| Only in-stock items | Default off |
| Remove duplicates | Default on |

### Output

**Product row:** `type: "product", store, productId, handle, title, vendor, productType, tags, createdAt, updatedAt, publishedAt, url, priceMin, priceMax, compareAtPriceMax, currency, available, variantCount, variants[{id, title, sku, price, compareAtPrice, available, option1, option2, option3}], images[], bodyText, scrapedAt`.

**Variant row (variant mode):** the product fields plus `variantId, variantTitle, sku, price, compareAtPrice, available, option1-3`.

**Error row:** `type: "error", store, error, httpStatus, collection, scrapedAt`. See `sample-output.json` for real rows.

Notes on the data:

- Prices are numbers in the store's currency; `currency` comes from the store's public `/meta.json` and is `null` when it is not available.
- `available` is the storefront's stock flag (true/false), **not** an inventory count.
- `bodyText` is the description with HTML removed, cut at 1,000 characters.
- Some stores hide collections or their catalogue; a hidden collection returns empty and an error row says so.
- `*.myshopify.com` addresses of stores that use a custom domain are usually locked (HTTP 401); use the public domain.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.001 per product** ($1.00 per 1,000 products) plus a $0.00005 start event per run. In variant mode you are still charged once per product; the variant rows are included. Error rows are not charged. A run returning 250 products costs about 25 cents. See PRICING.md for the benchmark.

### Public storefront data only, no customer data

The actor reads only the public storefront catalogue (`/products.json`, `/collections/<handle>/products.json`, `/meta.json`) that a store serves to every visitor. It returns **product, price, variant, stock-flag and image fields only**: no customer data, no orders, no emails or phone numbers, no login, and it does not bypass anything. Product data belongs to the stores: you are responsible for using it in line with each store's terms and applicable law.

### Notes and limits

- Not an official Shopify product. Stores can switch off or protect their catalogue feed, or change it, without notice.
- Stores that sit behind a bot filter may answer 403 or 429. The actor retries with backoff, then stops that store politely and reports it.
- Stock is a yes/no flag; real inventory counts are only public on a few stores and are not returned.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost?** $0.001 per product plus $0.00005 per run. 1,000 products = $1.00. Error rows are free.

**Do I need an API key, account or proxy?** No.

**Can I get the emails or phone numbers of stores?** No. This actor returns catalogue data only.

**How many products can I get?** Up to 50,000 per store per run, 250 per request page. Large catalogues take a few minutes because requests are paced.

**Which export formats are available?** JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, HTML or RSS from the Console or API, or integrations such as Make, Zapier, n8n and Google Sheets.

**Something broke or a field is missing?** Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab with the run link.

### Use with AI agents / MCP

Agents can call this Actor through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com). Let the agent find it with the `search-actors` tool ("shopify products scraper") and call it by name:

- Actor: `santis_hermes/shopify-products-scraper`
- Example prompt: "Get the 100 newest products from allbirds.com with price, compare-at price and stock."
- Minimal input:

```json
{
  "storeUrls": ["allbirds.com"],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 100,
  "outputMode": "product"
}
```

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify store addresses to scrape, one per line, for example allbirds.com or https://www.gymshark.com. Custom domains work best; the shop.myshopify.com address of a store that has a custom domain is usually locked (HTTP 401). A link to a collection page (example.com/collections/sale) scrapes only that collection.

## `collectionHandles` (type: `array`):

Optional collection handles to read instead of the whole catalogue, for example sale or mens-shoes (the last part of example.com/collections/sale). Applied to every store in the list. Leave empty to scrape all products. Hidden collections come back empty and give an error row.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products returned for each store. You are charged per product returned, so this keeps the cost of a run predictable. Stores are read 250 products per page, newest listing order as the store serves it.

## `outputMode` (type: `string`):

One row per product with its variants nested inside (default), or one flat row per variant (size, colour, SKU, price, stock) with the product fields repeated. Charging is per product in both modes, variant rows are included.

## `includeImages` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the list of product image URLs to every product row. Turn it off for smaller rows; the images field is then left out.

## `includeBodyText` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the product description as plain text (HTML removed, cut at 1,000 characters) in the bodyText field. Turn it off for smaller rows.

## `onlyAvailable` (type: `boolean`):

Keeps only variants that are in stock and skips products with no in-stock variant. Skipped products are not charged. The stock flag is the storefront's available value, not an inventory count.

## `dedupe` (type: `boolean`):

Skips a product that was already returned earlier in the same run, for example when two collections or two copies of the same store address list it.

## Actor input object example

  "storeUrls": [
    "allbirds.com",
    "colourpop.com"
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 250,
  "outputMode": "product",
  "includeImages": true,
  "includeBodyText": true,
  "onlyAvailable": false,
  "dedupe": true
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `products` (type: `string`):
All products as a table with the key columns.
## `prices` (type: `string`):
Compact table: store, title, price range, compare-at price, stock flag, URL.
## `variants` (type: `string`):
Flat variant rows (SKU, price, stock, options); filled when output mode is variant.
## `results` (type: `string`):
Every row with all fields.
## `runSummary` (type: `string`):
Products and pages per store, store errors, HTTP statuses and charged events.
