## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Egypt Forasna Jobs Scraper

Collect public job listings from [Forasna](https://forasna.com/job/search), an Egyptian jobs platform. The Actor reads public search result pages and can optionally visit public job detail pages. It does not create accounts, submit applications, or collect job-seeker profiles.

### Features

- Collects unique listings across Forasna search pagination.
- Extracts Arabic and English titles, employer, location, category, experience, job type, salary text, benefits, and posting date when present.
- Optionally enriches each listing with detail-page requirements and description.
- Preserves the Forasna job ID, source URLs, and collection timestamp.
- Stores run metrics in the default key-value store under `STATS`.
- Uses one browser request at a time and respects `robots.txt`. It does not bypass anti-bot challenges; a challenge or denied page fails visibly.

### Scope and limitations

This is a snapshot of Forasna's visible listings, not a census of Egyptian jobs or employment. The site's displayed total may include listings beyond the configured `maxItems`; listing counts and available fields change over time. Salary values are reported as advertised in EGP and may be missing or ranges. A location can include multiple areas. Do not infer that every listing remains open based only on its presence in search results.

### Input

```json
{
  "maxItems": 100,
  "includeDetails": true
}
```

| Field | Default | Meaning |
| --- | ---: | --- |
| `maxItems` | 100 | Maximum unique jobs to save, from 1 to 20,000. Search pages contain at least 20 listings and may include extra cards. |
| `includeDetails` | `true` | Visit each selected public job page for requirements and description. Disable for a quicker index-only collection. |

The prefilled input collects 10 jobs to keep automated test runs short. Increase `maxItems` for a larger snapshot.

### Output

One dataset item per unique Forasna job. Missing values are `null`; the Actor does not guess omitted details. `detail_status` is `complete`, `index_only`, or `failed`.

```json
{
  "job_id": "442809",
  "job_title": "فني صيانة مرافق",
  "company_name": "جلاس روك",
  "location": "مدينة السادات، المنوفية",
  "country": "Egypt",
  "experience_level": "خبرة متوسطة",
  "experience_years": "3 سنوات",
  "education_level": "مؤهل متوسط",
  "job_type": "يوم كامل",
  "job_category": "حرف",
  "job_specialty": "سباكة",
  "salary_raw": "10000 - 15000 جنيه مصري",
  "salary_min_egp": 10000,
  "salary_max_egp": 15000,
  "benefits": "تأمينات اجتماعية، توفير سكن",
  "posted_date": "2026-10-05",
  "detail_status": "complete",
  "job_url": "https://forasna.com/job/p/example-442809",
  "source_search_url": "https://forasna.com/job/search?start=0",
  "scraped_at": "2026-10-05T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Local development

```bash
npm ci
npm test
apify run --input='{"maxItems":2,"includeDetails":true}'
```

If the site presents an anti-bot challenge or denies access, the Actor reports the failure. Do not disable the challenge checks or use evasion techniques.

### FAQ

**Does this represent the whole Egyptian job market?** No. It represents only the Forasna listings visible during that run.

**Why can salary or requirements be missing?** Employers may omit them. Missing data is left empty rather than inferred.

**What happens when a detail page fails?** The Actor saves the search-page record with `detail_status: "failed"` and increments the failure metrics.

**Can I compare runs?** Yes. Deduplicate on `job_id` and retain `scraped_at`; changes in the site's listing inventory and pagination mean totals are snapshots, not historical counts.

# Actor input Schema

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum unique listings to save. Increase this for a broader snapshot; the source currently paginates by 20.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Visit each selected public job page to collect requirements and description. This increases runtime.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "maxItems": 10,
  "includeDetails": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

No description

## `runStats` (type: `string`):
