## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 247Sports College Recruit Rankings Scraper

Collect publicly available **247Sports (247sports.com)** college-recruiting
rankings as clean, structured records. Pick a sport, class year, institution
group and ranking type; the scraper reads the ranking page and returns one row
per ranked recruit — the whole class in a single run.

### What you get (one record per recruit)

| field | description |
|---|---|
| `athlete_id` | stable numeric id from the player profile URL |
| `name` | recruit name |
| `profile_url` | 247Sports player profile URL |
| `sport` | Football or Basketball |
| `recruitment_year` | recruiting class year |
| `position` | position code (QB, WR, Edge, IOL, …) |
| `height` / `weight` | listed measurements |
| `high_school` | high school name |
| `hometown` | city, state |
| `star_rating` | 1–5 stars |
| `rating_composite` | numeric rating (Top247 0–100 or Composite 0.0000–1.0000) |
| `national_rank` / `state_rank` / `position_rank` | rankings |
| `committed_college` | school the recruit committed to (empty if uncommitted) |
| `ranking_type` | `top247` or `composite` |

### Input

| field | default | description |
|---|---|---|
| `sport` | `football` | `football` or `basketball` |
| `recruitment_year` | `2027` | recruiting class year |
| `institution_group` | `highschool` | `highschool`, `juco` or `prep` |
| `ranking_type` | `top247` | `top247` (0–100) or `composite` (0.0000–1.0000) |
| `maxItems` | `0` | cap on recruits (`0` = whole ranking page, ~250) |
| `proxyConfiguration` | RESIDENTIAL | uses Apify Residential by default — **no external proxy key needed** |

### How it works

The ranking page is server-rendered, so the scraper parses each recruit row by
stable structural attributes (resistant to cosmetic markup changes). Every ranked
recruit is present in the page markup, so a single fetch returns the full class —
there is no pagination to chase. Requests use a residential proxy for reliable
access; you only supply the ranking parameters.

### Pricing

Pay per result — you are charged once per recruit record written to the dataset.
Compute runs on your own Apify account.

### Notes

This tool collects publicly available college-recruiting ranking data for
research and aggregation.

# Actor input Schema

## `sport` (type: `string`):

Which sport's recruit rankings to scrape.

Recruiting class year, e.g. 2027. 247Sports publishes rankings for the current and upcoming classes.

## `institution_group` (type: `string`):
