## Pricing

from $1.81 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Chess FIDE Ratings & Players

Pull official chess ratings from FIDE (the International Chess Federation) without opening a spreadsheet. The Actor reads the public monthly rating lists and the public player profile pages, and gives you clean, filterable rows.

### What it does

- Streams the current monthly FIDE rating list (standard, rapid or blitz) and keeps only the players that match your filters. The list file is never held in memory in full, so runs stay small.
- Looks up individual players by FIDE ID to get their three current ratings, world and national rank, titles with the year earned, and optionally the month-by-month rating history.
- Offers a shortcut for "top N players" by country.

All data comes from public FIDE pages. The Actor runs one request stream at a time, waits between profile requests and retries politely on errors.

### Modes

#### 1. `rating-list`

Filter the monthly list by federation, title, rating range, sex and activity.

```json
{
  "mode": "rating-list",
  "ratingType": "standard",
  "federations": ["ARG", "ESP"],
  "titles": ["GM", "IM"],
  "minRating": 2400,
  "activeOnly": true,
  "sortBy": "rating_desc",
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

`sortBy` can be `rating_desc` (default), `rating_asc` or `list_order`. Sorted output needs a pass over the whole list (about 570,000 players, one to two minutes); only the best rows are kept in memory. `list_order` streams in FIDE's alphabetical order and stops the download the moment `maxItems` rows were found.

#### 2. `player-profile`

```json
{
  "mode": "player-profile",
  "fideIds": ["1503014", "5000017"],
  "includeRatingHistory": true
}
```

You can also pass `profileUrls` such as `https://ratings.fide.com/profile/1503014`.

#### 3. `top-players`

The best players by rating for a federation (or the whole world), active players only unless you set `activeOnly` to `false`.

```json
{
  "mode": "top-players",
  "ratingType": "rapid",
  "federations": ["NOR", "IND"],
  "maxItems": 10
}
```

### Output

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| fideId | FIDE ID |
| name | Name as published by FIDE |
| federation | Three-letter federation code |
| sex | M or F |
| title / womenTitle | Open title (GM, IM, ...) and women's title (WGM, ...) |
| otherTitles | Other titles carried on the list (o_title and foa_title fields) |
| ratingType | standard, rapid or blitz |
| rating, games, kFactor | Rating, games rated in the period, K factor |
| birthYear | Year of birth |
| flag / inactive | Raw FIDE flag and whether the player is marked inactive |
| ratingListDate | Month of the list, e.g. 2026-10 |
| profileUrl | Link to the FIDE profile |

Player-profile rows:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| fideId, name, federation, federationCode | Identity and country |
| birthYear, sex, title | Basic details |
| titles | Array of titles with the year they were earned |
| standardRating, rapidRating, blitzRating | Current ratings |
| worldRankActive / worldRankAll | World rank among active / all players |
| nationalRankActive / nationalRankAll | Rank inside the federation |
| continentRank, continentRankActive | Continent name and active rank |
| ratingHistory | With `includeRatingHistory`: array of `{period, standard, standardGames, rapid, rapidGames, blitz, blitzGames}` |
| profileUrl | Link to the FIDE profile |

### Notes

- Players without a rating in the chosen category are skipped in list modes.
- The list reflects the month FIDE published last; `ratingListDate` tells you which.
- Rating history covers the months shown on the profile page (typically several years).
- Tournament-by-tournament calculations are loaded dynamically by FIDE and are not included.
- The Actor stops when `maxItems` is reached or when your maximum charge for the run is hit.
- Proxy is optional and normally unnecessary.

### Pricing

This Actor is pay-per-event, with three charges:

- **Profile** (`player-profile` mode): one charge per profile returned. Profile pages are fetched through a residential proxy because the source does not accept datacenter IPs.
- **List download** (`rating-list` and `top-players` modes): one charge per run for downloading the monthly FIDE list (a large file, also fetched through the proxy when the direct connection fails).
- **Result row** (list modes): a small charge per player row returned.

Set a maximum charge per run in the run options if you want a hard spending cap.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

rating-list filters the monthly FIDE list; player-profile reads individual profile pages; top-players returns the best N active players by rating.

## `ratingType` (type: `string`):

Which monthly list to read (rating-list and top-players modes).

## `federations` (type: `array`):

FIDE federation codes (three letters, e.g. NOR, IND, ARG). Leave empty for all countries.

## `titles` (type: `array`):

Keep only players holding one of these titles (GM, IM, FM, CM, WGM, WIM, WFM, WCM). Leave empty for all players.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Lowest rating to include.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Highest rating to include.

## `sex` (type: `string`):

Restrict to one sex as recorded by FIDE.

## `activeOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Skip players FIDE flags as inactive. Top-players mode always applies this unless you disable it here.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

rating_desc and rating_asc scan the whole list and keep the best items; list_order streams rows as FIDE publishes them (alphabetical) and stops as soon as the limit is reached, which is fastest for large exports.

## `fideIds` (type: `array`):

FIDE IDs to look up, e.g. 1503014.

## `profileUrls` (type: `array`):

Alternative to IDs: full profile URLs such as https://ratings.fide.com/profile/1503014.

## `includeRatingHistory` (type: `boolean`):

Add the month-by-month standard, rapid and blitz ratings shown on the profile page.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of rows to output. The run also stops when your maximum charge is reached.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not required. FIDE serves these pages without a proxy.
