## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Naukri.com Jobs Scraper

Python Apify actor that scrapes job listings from [Naukri.com](https://www.naukri.com) by keyword.
It drives a real headless Chromium session (Playwright) to pass Naukri's Akamai/CAPTCHA bot checks,
then calls Naukri's own search JSON endpoint (`jobapi/v3/search`) from inside that browser session
for each page of results — the same request Naukri's own front end makes when a user paginates.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `keyword` | string | — (required) | Job title, skill or company to search for, e.g. `"python developer"`. |
| `maxItems` | integer | `50` | Maximum number of job listings to scrape. |
| `sortBy` | `"relevance"` | `"date"` | `"relevance"` | Result ordering. |
| `workType` | `""` | `"remote"` | `"hybrid"` | `"onsite"` | `""` | Optional work-arrangement filter, folded into the search query. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Apify Proxy (residential) | Naukri blocks most datacenter IPs — keep Apify Proxy enabled. |

### Output

One dataset item per job:

```json
{
  "companyLogo": "https://img.naukimg.com/logo_images/groups/v1/13832.gif",
  "title": "Python developer with RAG, Langraph, Langchain",
  "companyName": "Infosys",
  "jobUrl": "https://www.naukri.com/job-listings-...",
  "jobId": "100726925760",
  "salary": "Not disclosed",
  "salaryMin": 0,
  "salaryMax": 0,
  "experience": "2-5 Yrs",
  "location": "Bengaluru",
  "skills": ["Python", "Css", "Postgresql"],
  "description": "...",
  "companyRating": 3.5,
  "companyReviewCount": 49928,
  "isWalkin": false,
  "postedDate": "2 Days Ago",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-07-13T05:48:28.028Z"
}
```

### How it works

1. Launch headless Chromium (via Apify Proxy) and navigate to the Naukri search results page for
   the keyword — this lets Naukri's anti-bot JS run and set the session cookies it requires.
2. From inside that same browser page, call `jobapi/v3/search` once per page of 20 results
   (via `fetch`, reusing the session/cookies), incrementing `pageNo` until `maxItems` or the
   total result count is reached.
3. Map each raw job record onto the stable output schema and push it to the dataset.

### Notes

- Naukri's search JSON response is undocumented and can drift; field extraction uses fallback
  aliases per field so minor schema changes don't break the whole run.
- `salaryMin`/`salaryMax` are only populated when Naukri discloses a numeric salary range
  (parsed from strings like `"5-10 Lacs PA"`); undisclosed salaries yield `0`.
- Naukri (via Akamai) blocks datacenter IPs outright, even for plain page loads — keep the
  residential Apify Proxy group enabled in the input, or every page will fail after retries.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Job title, skill or company name to search for on Naukri.com, e.g. "python developer".

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job listings to scrape for the given keyword.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

How Naukri.com should order the search results.

## `workType` (type: `string`):

Optionally narrow results to a work arrangement. Leave empty for all.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Naukri.com blocks most datacenter IPs. Apify Proxy is enabled by default; switch to the RESIDENTIAL group here if your plan has access and runs keep failing to connect.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keyword": "python developer",
  "maxItems": 50,
  "sortBy": "relevance",
  "workType": "",
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Records produced by Naukri.com Jobs Scraper, stored in the run's default dataset.
