## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Health Canada Medical Device Licences & Companies

Get Canada's official **Medical Device Active Licence Listing (MDALL)** as clean, structured data — every licensed medical device joined with the **licence-holder company and its full mailing address**. Ideal for regulatory intelligence, KYB/supplier due diligence, competitive monitoring and lead generation in the medical device sector.

### What you get

Each record is one device licence enriched with its company:

- **licenceNo / licenceId** — Health Canada device licence number
- **status** — Active, Cancelled, Inactive, Suspended, Expired, Amended, Refused
- **deviceName** — the licensed device / product name
- **riskClass** — device risk class 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest)
- **licenceType** — Single Device, System, Test Kit, Device Family, Device Group, Device Group Family
- **firstStatusDate / lastStatusDate / endDate** — licence lifecycle dates
- **companyName / companyId / companyStatus** — the licence holder
- **address / city / province / country / postalCode** — full company mailing address

### Filters

Narrow the catalogue to exactly what you need:

- **Device keyword** — e.g. `catheter`, `implant`, `imaging`, `glucose`
- **Company name** — e.g. `Medtronic`, `GE Healthcare`
- **Risk class** — Class 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (multi-select)
- **Licence status** — Active / Cancelled / Inactive / …
- **Licence type** — Single Device / System / Test Kit / …
- **Province / region code** — `ON`, `QC`, `BC`, US state codes …
- **Country code** — `CA`, `US`, …
- **Max results** — cap how many licences to return

### Example output

```json
{
  "licenceNo": 9538,
  "status": "Active",
  "deviceName": "ESOPHAGEAL OR RECTAL TEMP",
  "riskClass": 2,
  "licenceType": "Device Family",
  "firstStatusDate": "1999-08-09",
  "companyName": "MEDTRONIC CANADA ULC",
  "address": "99 Hereford Street",
  "city": "Brampton",
  "province": "ON",
  "country": "CA",
  "postalCode": "L6Y 0R3"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result. You are charged only for licence records actually returned — never on failure. Free Apify plans are capped at 10 results per run.

### Notes

- Data reflects Health Canada's public MDALL directory and refreshes daily.
- Company mailing addresses come from the official company directory joined by company id.

# Actor input Schema

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of device-licence records to collect.

## `deviceKeyword` (type: `string`):

Only keep licences whose device name contains this text (e.g. 'catheter', 'implant', 'imaging', 'glucose'). Leave empty for all devices.

## `companyName` (type: `string`):

Only keep licences whose licence-holder company name contains this text (e.g. 'Medtronic', 'GE Healthcare').

## `riskClass` (type: `array`):

Restrict to one or more device risk classes (1 = lowest risk, 4 = highest risk). Leave empty for all classes.

## `status` (type: `array`):

Restrict to one or more licence statuses. Leave empty for all statuses.

## `licenceType` (type: `array`):

Restrict to one or more licence types. Leave empty for all types.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Only keep licence-holder companies in this country code (e.g. 'CA', 'US'). Optional.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional proxy settings. The Health Canada API is an open endpoint reachable directly, so a proxy is not required.

```json
{
  "maxResults": 100,
  "riskClass": [],
  "status": [],
  "licenceType": [],
  "proxyConfiguration": {
