## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## MyBuilder Scraper — UK Tradespeople Leads by Trade & City

Turn any [MyBuilder](https://www.mybuilder.com) trade + city into a clean, ranked
list of UK tradespeople. One row per tradesperson, straight from MyBuilder's
public directory pages and each profile's `LocalBusiness` schema — no login.

### What you get (one row per tradesperson)

**From the listing card (always):**
`serviceProId`, `businessName`, `tradeCategory`, `locationSlug`,
`tradeLocationSummary`, `avgReviewScore`, `reviewCount`, `isVerified`,
`isFeaturedAd`, `badges`, `positionInList`, `pageNumber`, `bio`,
`latestReviewSnippet`, `totalResultsForQuery`, `profileUrl`.

**From the profile page (when "Fetch full profile details" is on):**
`legalName`, `leiCode`, `description` (full "About" text), `addressLocality`,
`addressCountry`, `services` (what they offer), `profileRatingValue`,
`profileReviewCount`, `sampleReviews` (author, date, rating, text).

### How to use

Give it one or more MyBuilder listing URLs:

- By trade + city: `https://www.mybuilder.com/electrical/electrician-tradespeople/london`
- All trades in a city: `https://www.mybuilder.com/find-trades/manchester`

Set **Max tradespeople** and it paginates automatically (~16 per page). Turn off
**Fetch full profile details** for a faster, listing-only run.

### Important: this is a lead-scoring tool, not contact enrichment

MyBuilder is a lead-generation marketplace. It does **not** publish phone, email
or website for tradespeople — customer contact happens through MyBuilder's own
"post a job" form by design. This actor gives you everything MyBuilder makes
public (who to shortlist: ratings, review volume, verified/featured status,
services, bio, sample reviews), **not** direct contact details.

### Proxy

MyBuilder is Cloudflare-fronted and UK-geofenced. The actor defaults to Apify
**Residential** proxy, **country GB** — this is required; datacenter proxy is
blocked. A fresh proxy session is used per request with automatic retry on a
Cloudflare challenge.

### Legal / terms

You are responsible for complying with MyBuilder's Terms of Service. Some fields
(business names, review-author names, review text) are personal data — handling
it (including under UK/EU GDPR) is your responsibility. Scrape only what you are
entitled to and use it lawfully.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

MyBuilder directory listing pages by trade + city, e.g. https://www.mybuilder.com/electrical/electrician-tradespeople/london or an all-trades city page https://www.mybuilder.com/find-trades/manchester . The scraper paginates each one automatically.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many tradespeople across all listing URLs (0 = no limit; a full city trade can be thousands).

## `maxPagesPerUrl` (type: `integer`):

Safety cap on how many result pages to walk per listing URL (~16 tradespeople per page). 0 = walk until the listing ends.

## `includeProfileDetails` (type: `boolean`):

For each tradesperson, also fetch their profile page to add the full description, precise locality, services offered and sample reviews (from the LocalBusiness schema). This doubles the number of requests against a Cloudflare-protected site, so runs are slower and some profiles may be skipped (the listing-level fields are always returned). Off by default.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. MyBuilder is Cloudflare-fronted and UK-geofenced, so Apify Proxy RESIDENTIAL (country GB) is the reliable default. Datacenter proxy is blocked and will not work.

## Actor input object example

```json
  "startUrls": [
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `records` (type: `string`):

The dataset of scraped MyBuilder tradespeople (one item per tradesperson/lead).
