## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC EDGAR Filings and Financials: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K

Get any US-listed company's SEC filings with links to the documents, or its key annual financials, from the SEC's own EDGAR data. Look companies up by ticker (`TSLA`), SEC CIK number (`1318605`) or name (`Tesla`).

- **Filings:** 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K (with its item numbers), proxy statements, insider forms, S-1s and every other form, newest first, filtered by form type and date.
- **Annual financials:** one row per fiscal year with revenue, operating income, net income, diluted EPS, operating cash flow, total assets, total liabilities, equity and cash, read from the company's 10-K XBRL data.

It reads the SEC's public JSON APIs and identifies itself as the SEC asks. It doesn't scrape EDGAR's search pages.

### Who it's for

- **AI agents and assistants** answering "what did Tesla file this week?" or "Apple's revenue for the last 3 years". Inputs are one line and outputs are small.
- **Investors and analysts** watching filings across a portfolio, such as every 8-K with item 2.02 (results).
- **Journalists and researchers** pulling filing histories or financials for many companies at once.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Companies** | One per line: ticker, CIK or company name. Up to 100 per run |
| **What to return** | *Filings*, or *Annual financials* |
| **Form types** | Filings only: e.g. `10-K`, `10-Q`, `8-K`, `DEF 14A`, `4`. Amendments are their own forms (`10-K/A`). Empty means every form |
| **Only from the last N days** | Filings only. 0 means any time |
| **Max filings per company** | Newest first, up to 1,000 (default 10) |
| **Fiscal years** | Financials only: how many years per company (default 3) |

Examples:

```json
{ "companies": ["TSLA", "Apple", "1045810"], "forms": ["8-K"], "days": 30 }
```

```json
{ "companies": ["AAPL", "MSFT", "WMT"], "mode": "financials", "years": 5 }
```

}
```
A company that can't be found, or has no financial data, gets one free row with an `error` that says why.
### Pricing
Pay per result: **$2.00 per 1,000 results**. One result is one filing, or one company's fiscal year of financials. Error rows are free. You can set a spending limit on any run, and the run stops cleanly when it's reached.
### Good to know
- **Fiscal years are the company's own.** Apple's year ends in September and Walmart's in January, and `fiscalYear` uses each company's numbering. `periodEnd` gives the exact date.
- **Figures are as reported in the 10-K**, using the latest restated value where a later 10-K revised it. A figure the company doesn't tag (Walmart reports no "total liabilities" line) is `null`. We never compute one.
- **Financials cover US-GAAP filers.** Foreign companies filing under IFRS (such as TSMC, on form 20-F) get an error row in financials mode. Their filings still work.
- **Filings go back to the 1990s.** Older history is read only when your filters need it.
- **No personal contact data.** Company addresses and phone numbers in the SEC data aren't returned.
