## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## FDIC Bank Branch Opening & Closure Leads

Track where US banks are expanding, contracting, relocating, merging, and reorganizing. This Actor turns the official FDIC History API into a normalized, filterable change feed with effective dates, bank and branch names, branch addresses and coordinates, office type, charter and regulator fields, FDIC certificate numbers, and direct BankFind links.

Branch openings are valuable local demand signals. Closures and relocations can reveal real-estate, equipment, security, logistics, signage, staffing, technology, and competitive-market changes. Institutional mergers and name or charter changes help keep bank datasets and sales territories current.

### Built for

- commercial real estate, construction, facilities, security, signage, and moving services
- banking technology, telecom, ATM, cash logistics, compliance, staffing, and insurance sales
- market intelligence, deposit-network research, competitive mapping, and data enrichment
- scheduled territory alerts, CRM workflows, databases, and AI agents

### Signals

- branch opening
- branch closing or discontinuance
- physical relocation or address change
- merger or acquisition event
- institution or branch name change
- regulatory, charter, insurance, or class change
- optional other structural changes

### Example input

```json
{
  "daysBack": 120,
  "changeTypes": ["branch-opening", "branch-closing", "relocation"],
  "states": ["TX", "OK", "LA"],
  "branchesOnly": true,
  "maxItems": 1000
}
```

### Output highlights

Effective and processing dates, normalized signal, original FDIC change code and description, bank and branch names, FDIC certificate and unique identifiers, branch role and service type, address, city, state, ZIP, county, latitude/longitude, headquarters location, regulator and charter class, BankFind profile, and source link.

### Source and caveats

Results come from the [official FDIC BankFind Suite data and API](https://banks.data.fdic.gov/bankfind-suite/). FDIC history contains many technical change codes. The Actor groups descriptions into practical categories, but the original code and description are always preserved. An effective date can differ from a public announcement, physical opening, final closure, or completion of a transaction.

Verify material decisions through BankFind, the institution, regulatory filings, and local sources. Coordinates and addresses are published FDIC data and can contain updates or corrections.
