## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Google News Search

Export fresh Google News search results as clean, source-linked rows for media monitoring, competitive intelligence, PR research, alerts, content discovery, and AI-agent pipelines.

This Actor uses Google News's public RSS search feeds. It is lightweight, needs no browser or API key, and gives every query an explicit result ceiling.

### What you get

Each article becomes one dataset item with:

- original search query
- headline
- Google News URL
- publisher name and homepage
- direct publisher URL when optional resolution succeeds
- publication timestamp
- feed description
- market, language, and scrape timestamp

### Input example

```json
{
  "queries": ["artificial intelligence startups", "site:techcrunch.com robotics when:7d"],
  "countryCode": "US",
  "languageCode": "en",
  "maxArticlesPerQuery": 50,
  "publishedSince": "",
  "resolvePublisherUrls": false
}
```

Standard Google News query operators can narrow sources and dates. `maxArticlesPerQuery` is a hard output and price ceiling.

### Output example

```json
{
  "query": "artificial intelligence startups",
  "title": "Example AI funding headline",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/...",
  "publisherUrl": null,
  "publisher": "Example News",
  "publisherHomepage": "https://example.com",
  "publishedAt": "2026-08-30T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Automation and AI agents

Use the API, OpenAPI, MCP, Python, JavaScript, CLI, webhook, and scheduling examples in the Actor's **API** tab. The dataset works directly with Sheets, Slack alerts, databases, RAG ingestion, and brand-monitoring workflows.

### Important notes

Google News controls ranking, availability, and feed contents. A Google News result can disappear or change. The optional direct-URL resolver is best effort; `googleNewsUrl` remains the durable source link when a publisher redirect is not exposed. Respect publisher rights and applicable terms when retrieving or reusing article content—the Actor exports feed metadata, not full article bodies.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Keywords or Google News operators such as site:, when:, before:, and after:.

## `countryCode` (type: `string`):

Two-letter market code such as US, GB, CA, AU, or DE.

## `languageCode` (type: `string`):

Two-letter language code such as en, es, fr, or de.

## `maxArticlesPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Hard output and price ceiling for each query.

## `publishedSince` (type: `string`):

Optional ISO date/time. Older articles are excluded when a publication date is available.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Return Google's feed description text when supplied.

## `resolvePublisherUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Follow Google News links and save a direct publisher URL when Google redirects to one. This adds requests and is best for smaller runs.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Maximum feed requests performed at once.

## `timeoutSeconds` (type: `integer`):

Stop waiting for an individual request after this many seconds.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "artificial intelligence startups"
  ],
  "countryCode": "US",
  "languageCode": "en",
  "maxArticlesPerQuery": 50,
  "publishedSince": "",
  "includeDescription": true,
  "resolvePublisherUrls": false,
  "maxConcurrency": 3,
  "timeoutSeconds": 20
}
```

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("scrapesignal_labs/google-news-search-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
