## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon Best Sellers Scraper

Scrape **Amazon's ranked lists** - **Best Sellers, New Releases, Movers & Shakers, Most Wished For and Gift Ideas** - for any category on **20 Amazon marketplaces** and get clean structured JSON: rank, ASIN, title, price and currency, rating, review count, image and product URL, plus sales-rank moves on Movers & Shakers. No login, no proxies or browsers to configure.

### Features

- **Five ranked lists** - Best Sellers, New Releases, Movers & Shakers, Most Wished For and Gift Ideas.
- **Any category depth** - a department slug (`electronics`), a subcategory by browse-node ID (`electronics/172541` = Headphones), or just paste the list URL from Amazon.
- **20 marketplaces** - amazon.com, .co.uk, .de, .fr, .it, .es, .nl, .se, .pl, .com.be, .com.tr, .ca, .com.mx, .com.br, .co.jp, .in, .ae, .sa, .sg, .com.au.
- **Local prices** - pages are loaded from the marketplace's home country, so prices come in the store's currency.
- **Up to 100 products** per list (the full list Amazon publishes).
- **Category tree** - the category's parents and subcategories (with node IDs and URLs) are saved in the key-value store as a `CATEGORY-...` record, so you can drill down.
- **Many categories per run**, scraped in parallel.

### Use cases

- Product research and finding winning products for e-commerce and dropshipping.
- Tracking rank changes and trends across categories and countries.
- Competitor and brand monitoring on Amazon's top lists.
- Price and rating snapshots of category leaders.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `categories` | array | `["electronics"]` | Department slugs, `slug/node` IDs or Amazon list URLs. |
| `list_type` | string | `bestsellers` | `bestsellers`, `new_releases`, `movers_and_shakers`, `most_wished_for` or `gift_ideas`. |
| `marketplace` | string | `amazon.com` | Regional Amazon site. |
| `max_results` | integer | `30` | Products per category (1-100). Above 30 per page takes ~10-25 s longer. |
| `concurrency` | integer | `2` | Categories scraped at the same time (1-5). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "categories": ["electronics/172541", "toys-and-games", "https://www.amazon.de/gp/new-releases/kitchen/"],
  "list_type": "bestsellers",
  "marketplace": "amazon.com",
  "max_results": 50
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per ranked product:

```json
{
  "rank": 1,
  "asin": "B08JHCVHTY",
  "title": "blink plus plan with monthly auto-renewal",
  "url": "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JHCVHTY",
  "image": "https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31YHGbJsldL._AC_UL600_SR600,400_.png",
  "price": 11.99,
  "currency": "USD",
  "priceRaw": "$11.99",
  "offersCount": null,
  "rating": 4.4,
  "reviewsCount": 280618,
  "salesRank": null,
  "previousSalesRank": null,
  "salesRankChangePct": null,
  "listType": "bestsellers",
  "listTitle": "Best Sellers in Electronics",
  "marketplace": "amazon.com",
  "categoryName": "Electronics",
  "categorySlug": "electronics",
  "categoryNodeId": null,
  "categoryUrl": "https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/",
  "categoryInput": "electronics"
}
```

`salesRank`, `previousSalesRank` and `salesRankChangePct` are filled in on Movers & Shakers lists. When Amazon has no list for a category at the moment (it says "no movers and shakers available"), that category ends up in the `ERRORS` record, unbilled.

Categories that fail (unknown slug or node ID, no list published) are listed in the `ERRORS` record of the key-value store and are **not billed**.

### Pricing

**$0.50 per 1000 products.** Failed categories are not charged.

### Notes

- Amazon lists hold at most 100 products (two pages of 50).
- A few products occasionally come back with only rank, ASIN and URL when Amazon does not render their card.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

One category per line: a department slug (electronics, books, toys-and-games, kitchen), a slug plus browse-node ID (electronics/172541 = Headphones), or any Amazon Best Sellers / New Releases / Movers & Shakers / Most Wished For / Gift Ideas URL (its marketplace and list type are then used).

## `list_type` (type: `string`):

Which ranked list to scrape. Ignored for categories given as a URL.

## `marketplace` (type: `string`):

Regional Amazon site. Ignored for categories given as a URL.

## `max_results` (type: `integer`):

How many ranked products to return per category (1-100; Amazon lists hold up to 100). Up to 30 per page is fastest; more needs a browser render and takes ~10-25 s longer.

## `proxy_country` (type: `string`):

ISO-2 exit country. Leave empty - the marketplace's home country is used, so prices come in the store's currency.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many categories to scrape at the same time.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "categories": [
    "electronics"
  ],
  "list_type": "bestsellers",
  "marketplace": "amazon.com",
  "max_results": 30,
  "proxy_country": "",
  "concurrency": 2
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per ranked product, with the category and list attached

## `errors` (type: `string`):

Categories that returned no products, with the reason (not billed)
