## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon Reviews Scraper

Get the **public review snapshot of Amazon products** in bulk as clean JSON - star rating, ratings count, the 5..1-star histogram, Amazon's AI **"Customers say" summary** (per-aspect sentiment, mention counts and the quoted review snippets) and the **top reviews** shown on the product page. **No Amazon account, no cookies, no login**, no proxies or browsers to configure. Works on 20 Amazon marketplaces, by product URL or ASIN.

### Scope - please read

This Actor returns what Amazon shows a **signed-out visitor on the product page**. Amazon keeps its complete review list behind sign-in, so this is **not a full review export**:

- **Top reviews:** typically **8 to 13 per product** - the marketplace's own top reviews first, then "top reviews from other countries" (flagged with `fromOtherCountry`). You cannot page deeper or sort by newest.
- **Gated products:** for some products Amazon replaces the top reviews with a "sign in to see customer reviews" prompt - this is **common on amazon.com**. The product then comes back with `reviewsGated: true` and an empty `reviews` list, but still with the rating, ratings count, histogram and the "Customers say" summary including its quoted review snippets. The same ASIN on amazon.co.uk, .de or .ca usually shows its reviews. Turn on **Only products with reviews** to skip gated products (they are then not billed).

For rating monitoring, review sentiment sampling and competitor tracking this snapshot is usually what you need. If you need every historical review of a product, this Actor is not that.

### What you get per product

- `asin`, `marketplace`, `url`, product `title`
- `rating` (e.g. 4.6) and `reviewCount` (global ratings)
- `histogram` - percent of ratings per star, `{"5": 80, "4": 12, "3": 5, "2": 1, "1": 2}`
- `customersSay` - Amazon's AI summary: overall `summary` text and `aspects`, each with `name`, `sentiment` (positive / negative / mixed), `mentions`, `positive`, `negative`, its own `summary` and `excerpts` (quoted review snippets with review id and link)
- `reviewsGated` and `reviewsReturned`
- `reviews` - the top reviews, each with `id`, `url`, `author`, `rating`, `title`, `body`, `date` (ISO), `dateRaw`, `country`, `fromOtherCountry`, `language`, `verified` (Verified Purchase), `helpfulVotes`, `variant` (e.g. size or colour) and `images`

Every product has the same keys; a value the page does not show is `null`.

**One row per review:** the dataset has a **Reviews** view (and the "Reviews (one row per review)" output link) that unwinds the `reviews` list into one row per review with the product's ASIN and marketplace. Through the API, add `?unwind=reviews&omit=customersSay,histogram` to the dataset items URL.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `urls` | array | - | Amazon product URLs, e.g. `https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071914GGL`. The marketplace is read from the URL. |
| `asins` | array | - | ASINs, looked up on `marketplace`. Use instead of or with `urls`. |
| `marketplace` | string | `amazon.com` | Marketplace for the ASINs (20 supported). |
| `only_with_reviews` | boolean | `false` | Skip (and do not bill) products whose top reviews Amazon gates behind sign-in. |
| `proxy_country` | string | `""` | Optional exit country (ISO-2). Leave empty. |
| `concurrency` | integer | `3` | Products fetched at the same time (1-5). |

With no products given, the Actor runs on an example product.

```
Products that fail (unknown ASIN, product with no ratings yet, blocked after retries) and gated products skipped with **Only products with reviews** are listed in the `ERRORS` record of the key-value store and are **not billed**.
### Pricing
**$2 per 1000 products.** Each product includes its rating, histogram, "Customers say" summary and all the top reviews Amazon shows (typically 8 to 13) at no extra charge - about $0.15 to $0.25 per 1000 reviews. A gated product (rating and summary, no reviews) is billed as a product unless you turn on **Only products with reviews**. Failed products are not charged.
### Use cases
- **Rating monitoring** - track star rating, ratings count and histogram over time, across marketplaces.
- **Voice of the customer** - Amazon's own per-aspect sentiment (what buyers praise and complain about) with mention counts, ready to chart.
- **Competitor tracking** - compare rival products' ratings, aspects and recent top reviews.
- **Review sentiment sampling** - feed the top reviews into your own sentiment or theme analysis.
### Supported marketplaces
amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, amazon.es, amazon.nl, amazon.se, amazon.pl, amazon.com.be, amazon.com.tr, amazon.ca, amazon.com.mx, amazon.com.br, amazon.co.jp, amazon.in, amazon.ae, amazon.sa, amazon.sg, amazon.com.au.
# Actor input Schema
## `urls` (type: `array`):
Amazon product page URLs from any of the 20 supported marketplaces, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071914GGL. The marketplace is read from the URL. One dataset item per product.
## `asins` (type: `array`):
Amazon product ASINs (10 characters, e.g. B071914GGL; books use their ISBN-10). They are looked up on the marketplace selected below. Use this instead of or together with the URLs.
## `marketplace` (type: `string`):
Regional Amazon site the ASINs belong to (URLs carry their own marketplace). Amazon.com often hides the top reviews from signed-out visitors (reviewsGated) - the same ASIN on amazon.co.uk, .de or .ca usually shows them.
## `only_with_reviews` (type: `boolean`):
Skip (and do not bill) products where Amazon hides the top reviews behind a sign-in prompt. When off, such products are still returned with their rating, histogram and 'Customers say' data, and reviewsGated is true.
## `proxy_country` (type: `string`):
ISO-2 country to browse Amazon from. Leave empty - the service uses the marketplace's home country. The reviews come from the marketplace itself, so the exit country does not change them.
## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):
How many products to fetch at the same time (1-5).
## Actor input object example
  "proxy_country": "",
  "concurrency": 3
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per product: rating, histogram, Customers say summary and the top reviews

## `reviews` (type: `string`):

The same data with one row per review

## `errors` (type: `string`):

Products that returned no data (unknown ASIN, blocked, no ratings, or skipped as gated), with the reason (not billed)
