## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper

Scrape **Apple App Store reviews** of any iOS app as clean structured JSON - review title and full text, star rating, author, date, the **app version** reviewed and helpful votes - with the app id and country on every row. Many apps and countries in one run. No Apple developer account, no API key, no proxies to configure.

### Features

- **Any input form** - numeric id (`324684580`), `id324684580`, an apps.apple.com URL, or a bundle id (`com.spotify.client`).
- **Full review data** - id, title, text, rating (1-5), author and author URL, date, app version, helpful votes and total votes.
- **Multi-country** - Apple keeps separate reviews per country; list several countries to collect each one's reviews in the same run.
- **Two orders** - most recent or most helpful.
- **Date filter** - only reviews written since a given date; with the most-recent order, paging stops at the first older review, so incremental monitoring runs stay fast and cheap.
- **Deduplicated** - the same app given twice (e.g. as id and URL) is collected once per country.

### Use cases

- **Review monitoring** - a daily or weekly export of new reviews of your app with the `since` filter.
- **Sentiment and topic analysis** - complaints and praise per app version, across countries.
- **Competitor research** - what users love and hate in rival apps.
- **Release QA** - spot rating drops and bug reports right after a new version ships.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `apps` | array | Spotify (`324684580`) | App ids, `id...`, apps.apple.com URLs or bundle ids. |
| `countries` | array | - | App Store countries (ISO-2, e.g. `us`, `gb`, `de`). Empty: the country in each app URL, otherwise `us`. |
| `sort` | string | `mostrecent` | `mostrecent` or `mosthelpful`. |
| `maxReviews` | integer | `100` | Reviews per app and country (1-500). |
| `since` | string | - | Only reviews written on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "324684580",
    "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997",
    "com.burbn.instagram"
  ],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"],
  "sort": "mostrecent",
  "maxReviews": 500,
  "since": "2026-09-01"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per review:

```json
{
  "appId": "310633997",
  "country": "gb",
  "sort": "mostrecent",
  "id": "14610177588",
  "title": "UI/App dev team need to be shown the door",
  "text": "Removing the ability to compact/expand the left sidebar is disgraceful UX...",
  "rating": 1,
  "author": "Thesuperchimp",
  "authorUrl": "https://itunes.apple.com/gb/reviews/id122633744",
  "date": "2026-09-30T01:43:58-07:00",
  "version": "26.37.76",
  "helpfulVotes": 0,
  "totalVotes": 0,
  "appUrl": "https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/id310633997",
  "appInput": "https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997"
}
```

App / country pairs that return no reviews (unknown app, an app not sold in that country, no written reviews, or none after the `since` date) are listed in the `ERRORS` record of the key-value store and are **not billed**.

### Pricing

**$0.30 per 1000 reviews.** You pay only for reviews delivered; failed apps are not charged.

### Notes

- Apple serves at most **500 reviews per app, country and order**. To go deeper, add countries or run both orders.
- Ratings without a written review are not part of Apple's review feed; for an app's rating, ratings count and star histogram use the companion **App Store Scraper**.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Apps to collect reviews for. Each entry is a numeric App Store id (324684580), 'id324684580', an apps.apple.com app URL or a bundle id (com.spotify.client).

## `countries` (type: `array`):

App Store countries (ISO-2) to collect reviews from, e.g. us, gb, de. Apple keeps separate reviews per country, so each app is collected once per country. Leave empty to use the country in each app URL, otherwise the United States.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Which reviews Apple lists first.

## `maxReviews` (type: `integer`):

How many reviews to collect for each app in each country (1-500). Apple serves at most 500 reviews per app, country and order; add countries or switch the order to get more.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional. Only reviews written on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). With 'Most recent' order, paging stops at the first older review, which makes monitoring runs fast.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "324684580"
  ],
  "sort": "mostrecent",
  "maxReviews": 100
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per review, with the app id and country

## `errors` (type: `string`):

App / country pairs that returned no reviews, with the reason (not billed)
