## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Booking.com Reviews Scraper

Scrape the **latest Booking.com guest reviews** of any hotel as clean structured JSON - review score, title, what the guest liked and disliked, reviewer name and country, trip type, traveler type, nights stayed, stay month, helpful votes and the review language - with the hotel URL and slug on every row. Many hotels in one run. No Booking.com account, no API key, no proxies to configure.

**What you get:** Booking.com shows the **newest 15 reviews written in each language**. This Actor reads up to 18 languages per hotel, so you get up to **270 of a hotel's most recent reviews** - ideal for monitoring what guests say right now. It does not return a hotel's full review history.

### Features

- **Any hotel input** - a Booking.com hotel page URL (locale suffixes like `.en-gb.html` and query parameters are fine) or the short form `fr/le-meurice`.
- **18 review languages** - English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech and Turkish, or all of them at once.
- **Full review data** - score (1-10) and its score band (exceptional, superb, very good, good, pleasant, average, disappointing, poor, very poor), title, liked text, disliked text, reviewer name, country and country code, trip type (leisure / business), traveler type (couple, family, solo, group...), nights, stay month, helpful votes, mobile submission flag and Booking's raw info tags.
- **Date filter** - only reviews written since a given date, so a daily or weekly run returns just the new ones.
- **Per-language report** - the `HOTELS` record shows how many reviews Booking listed in each language for each hotel.
- **Deduplicated** - the same hotel given twice (URL and short form) is collected once.

### Use cases

- **Review monitoring** - a scheduled run with `since` delivers every new guest review of your property or your competitors'.
- **Guest sentiment** - track complaints (`negativeText`) and praise (`positiveText`) over time and by guest country.
- **Market research** - compare what guests from different countries say about hotels in a destination.
- **Reputation dashboards** - feed fresh reviews into BI tools, spreadsheets or an LLM for summaries.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `hotels` | array | The Savoy, London | Booking.com hotel URLs or `<cc>/<slug>`. |
| `languages` | array | `["en"]` | Review languages; `all` reads all 18. |
| `maxReviewsPerHotel` | integer | `270` | Upper limit per hotel (1-270). |
| `since` | string | - | Only reviews written on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "hotels": [
    "https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-savoy.html",
    "fr/le-meurice"
  ],
  "languages": ["en", "de", "fr"],
  "maxReviewsPerHotel": 45,
  "since": "2026-09-01"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per review:

```json
{
  "hotelUrl": "https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-savoy.html",
  "hotelSlug": "the-savoy",
  "hotelCountryCode": "gb",
  "id": "1047fca556e52c3d",
  "language": "en",
  "reviewDate": "2026-09-29",
  "reviewDateText": "Reviewed: September 29, 2026",
  "rating": 9.0,
  "ratingText": null,
  "ratingBand": "superb",
  "title": "Excellent Service, food and atmosphere",
  "positiveText": "Room was facing the central core",
  "negativeText": null,
  "reviewerName": "Albert",
  "reviewerCountry": "Switzerland",
  "reviewerCountryCode": "CH",
  "tripType": "leisure",
  "travelerType": "solo",
  "nights": 2,
  "stayMonth": "2026-09",
  "stayText": "Stayed in September 2026",
  "helpfulVotes": 0,
  "submittedFromMobile": false,
  "tags": ["Leisure trip", "Solo traveler", "Stayed 2 nights"],
  "hotelInput": "https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-savoy.html"
}
```

The key-value store also holds:

- `HOTELS` - per hotel: URL, country code, slug, reviews collected and, per language, how many reviews Booking listed (`capped: true` means the language has more, older reviews that Booking does not show).
- `ERRORS` - hotels that returned no reviews (unknown hotel, bad URL, blocked, or none since the `since` date) with the reason. These are **not billed**.

### Pricing

**$0.40 per 1000 reviews.** You pay only for reviews delivered; failed hotels are not charged.

### Notes

- Booking.com lists only the **newest 15 reviews per language** to visitors. A hotel's older reviews are not reachable this way, so use this Actor for recent reviews and ongoing monitoring rather than a full review archive.
- Languages are read in the order you give them until `maxReviewsPerHotel` is reached; put the languages that matter most first.
- A language with no reviews for a hotel simply adds nothing.

# Actor input Schema

## `hotels` (type: `array`):

Booking.com hotel page URLs (https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-meurice.html - a locale suffix such as .en-gb.html and query parameters are fine) or the short form <country code>/<slug>, e.g. fr/le-meurice.

## `languages` (type: `array`):

Languages the reviews were written in. Booking lists the newest 15 reviews per language, so each language adds up to 15 reviews per hotel. Pick 'All 18 languages' for up to 270 reviews per hotel. Empty = English.

## `maxReviewsPerHotel` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of reviews per hotel across the chosen languages (1-270). Languages are read in the order given until the limit is reached.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional. Only reviews written on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD) - handy for daily or weekly monitoring runs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "hotels": [
    "https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-savoy.html"
  ],
  "languages": [
    "en"
  ],
  "maxReviewsPerHotel": 270
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per review, with the hotel URL and slug

## `hotels` (type: `string`):

Per hotel: reviews collected and, for each language, how many reviews Booking listed

## `errors` (type: `string`):

Hotels that returned no reviews (unknown hotel, bad URL, blocked, or none since the date), with the reason (not billed)
