## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google AI Mode Scraper

Ask **Google AI Mode** - the conversational AI tab of Google Search - any question and get its **full answer as clean, structured JSON**: plain text, **Markdown**, and **typed blocks** (paragraphs, headings, ordered and nested lists, tables with their header row), **every cited source with its real page URL**, the links written into the answer and the **follow-up questions** Google closes with. Pick the country and the language. No Google account, API key or proxies to set up.

### Features

- **The whole answer, finished** - the scraper waits until Google has finished writing; an answer that never finished is not returned and not billed.
- **Structured blocks** - paragraphs, headings with level, lists (ordered, nested), tables with header and rows, code - ready to store or re-render, plus text and Markdown.
- **Cited sources with real URLs** - Google links its sources through redirects; you get the real page URL, title, site name, domain and snippet.
- **Clean** - no "Share", feedback or sponsored units in the answer.
- **Any country and language** - answers and sources differ by country; ask from the country you track, in the language you need.

### Use cases

- **AI visibility / GEO tracking** - check whether Google's AI Mode cites or recommends your brand, site or products.
- **Competitor monitoring** - see which competitors AI Mode names and which pages it trusts.
- **Content research** - collect AI answers and their sources for a topic.
- **Datasets** - build question/answer/source datasets for analysis.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `queries` | array | `["what are the pros and cons of electric cars"]` | Questions to ask (one answer each). |
| `country` | string | empty | ISO-2 country to ask from, e.g. `US`, `GB`, `DE`. Empty = the scraper chooses (US or Europe). |
| `language` | string | `en` | Language Google answers in, e.g. `de`, `fr`, `es`, `pt-BR`. |
| `concurrency` | integer | `3` | Questions run at the same time (1-5). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "queries": ["what are the pros and cons of electric cars", "best crm for a small business", "how does a heat pump work"],
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per answered question (shortened here):

```json
{
  "query": "what are the pros and cons of electric cars",
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en",
  "market": "us",
  "text": "Electric cars offer significant savings on fuel and maintenance alongside zero tailpipe emissions, but they come with trade-offs like higher upfront costs...",
  "markdown": "Electric cars offer **significant savings on fuel and maintenance alongside zero tailpipe emissions**, but ...\n\n| Pros of Electric Cars | Cons of Electric Cars |\n|---|---|\n| Lower running costs (cheaper to fuel than gas) | Higher initial purchase price |",
  "blocks": [
    {"type": "paragraph", "text": "Electric cars offer significant savings on fuel and maintenance ..."},
    {"type": "table", "header": ["Pros of Electric Cars", "Cons of Electric Cars"],
     "rows": [["Lower running costs (cheaper to fuel than gas)", "Higher initial purchase price"]]},
    {"type": "heading", "level": 3, "text": "The Pros Explained"},
    {"type": "list", "ordered": false, "items": [{"text": "Cheaper to \"Fuel\": Charging an EV at home is dramatically cheaper than buying gasoline...", "level": 0}]}
  ],
  "references": [
    {
      "position": 1,
      "title": "The Top Pros And Cons of Electric Cars | EnergySage",
      "url": "https://www.energysage.com/electric-vehicles/pros-and-cons-electric-cars/",
      "source": "EnergySage",
      "domain": "energysage.com",
      "snippet": "EVs cost less to fuel and maintain than gas-powered cars..."
    }
  ],
  "referencesCount": 13,
  "sources": ["energysage.com", "reddit.com", "cars.usnews.com"],
  "links": [{"text": "EnergySage", "url": "https://www.energysage.com/electric-vehicles/pros-and-cons-electric-cars/"}],
  "followUps": ["Are you shopping for a specific EV model, or trying to decide if an electric car fits your current living and commuting situation?"],
  "googleUrl": "https://www.google.com/search?q=what+are+the+pros+and+cons+of+electric+cars&udm=50&hl=en&gl=us"
}
```

Some answers cite no sources (Google shows none for them); `references` is then empty. Questions that could not be answered go to the `ERRORS` record in the run's key-value store, with the reason. They are not billed.

### Pricing

**$2.50 per 1000 answers** (pay per result) - one dataset item is one answered question. Failed questions are free.
