## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Google Maps Scraper

Scrape **Google Maps / Local business results** as clean, structured JSON - name, rating, reviews, category, address, hours and more - straight from Google's own local search. No Google Cloud project, billing account or Places API key, and none of its per-request quotas.

Powered by [ScrapeUnblocker](https://scrapeunblocker.com)'s anti-bot bypass - no proxies or CAPTCHA setup.

### What you get per place

- **Name** and primary **category**
- **Position** (rank from 1) in the local results
- **Rating** (stars) and **review count** (Google's "19K" expanded to a number, e.g. `19000`)
- **Price level** as shown, e.g. `$10-20`
- **Address**
- **Open / closed** status line with **hours**
- A **highlighted review snippet** when Google shows one

### Features

- **Real Google local results** - the same places Google shows in its local pack, already parsed.
- **Localization** - set the interface language (`hl`) and the country to search from (`gl`) to match the market you care about.
- **No API keys** - no Google Cloud project, Places API key, billing or quota to manage.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `keyword` | string | **required** | Local search phrase, ideally with a location. |
| `hl` | string | `en` | Google UI language (ISO code). |
| `gl` | string | - | Country to search from (lowercase ISO-2). |
| `proxy_country` | string | - | Exit-IP country (ISO-2). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "keyword": "coffee shops in Austin",
  "hl": "en",
  "gl": "us"
}
```

### Use cases

- **Local lead generation** - build lists of businesses in a niche and city with ratings and addresses.
- **Competitor & location research** - see who ranks in the local pack for your keywords and where.
- **Rating & review monitoring** - track a category's ratings and review counts over time.
- **Local-business datasets** - collect places by category and city to power maps, directories or analysis.

### Output

One dataset item per place, with the fields above. The run's `OUTPUT` record holds the raw parsed response.
