## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Google Search Scraper (SERP API)

Scrape **Google search results** as clean structured JSON - organic results, top and bottom **ads**, and Google's **AI Overview** - without touching proxies, headless browsers or CAPTCHA solvers.

Powered by [ScrapeUnblocker](https://scrapeunblocker.com)'s anti-bot bypass, which renders each search page behind Google's bot detection and returns the results already parsed. You just pass a query.

### Features

- **Organic results** with title, URL, description and position.
- **Ads** shown above and below the organic list (optional).
- **AI Overview** block from page 1 (optional).
- **Multi-page** - fetch up to 10 result pages in one run.
- **Country targeting** - run the search from a specific country's exit.
- No proxy or CAPTCHA setup - handled for you.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `keyword` | string | **required** | The search query. Supports `site:`, `intitle:`, quotes, etc. |
| `pages_to_check` | integer | `1` | Pages of results to fetch (1-10, ~10 organic results per page). |
| `include_ads` | boolean | `true` | Also return paid ad results. |
| `include_ai_overview` | boolean | `true` | Also return the AI Overview block (page 1). |
| `proxy_country` | string | Random | Country to search from (e.g. `US`, `DE`, `GB`). |
| `wait_after_load` | integer | `0` | Extra seconds to wait before parsing (rarely needed). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "keyword": "web scraping api",
  "pages_to_check": 2,
  "include_ads": true,
  "proxy_country": "US"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per result. Each item has a `type` (`organic`, `ad_top`, `ad_bottom`, `ai_overview`):

```json
{
  "keyword": "web scraping api",
  "type": "organic",
  "position": 1,
  "title": "Example Web Scraping API",
  "url": "https://example.com/",
  "description": "The easiest way to scrape any website..."
}
```

The full parsed SERP (including result counts and `totalResults`) is also saved as the run's `OUTPUT` record in the key-value store.

### How it works

The actor calls ScrapeUnblocker's dedicated `/serpApi` endpoint. Google is never fetched through a generic page scraper - the SERP endpoint handles rendering, proxy rotation and Google's bot detection, then parses organic results, ads and the AI Overview server-side.

### Pricing

You are charged per Google results page fetched. See the pricing on this actor's page for the exact rate.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

The Google search query, e.g. "web scraping api". Google search operators like site:, intitle: and quotes are supported.

## `pages_to_check` (type: `integer`):

How many pages of Google results to fetch (1-10). Each page returns roughly 10 organic results.

## `include_ads` (type: `boolean`):

Also return the paid ad results shown above and below the organic list.

## `include_ai_overview` (type: `boolean`):

Also return Google's AI Overview block (page 1 only), when present.

## `proxy_country` (type: `string`):

Run the search from a specific country's exit. Leave as Random to let ScrapeUnblocker pick.

## `wait_after_load` (type: `integer`):

Optional extra pause after the results page loads before parsing. Usually not needed.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keyword": "web scraping api",
  "pages_to_check": 1,
  "include_ads": true,
  "include_ai_overview": true,
  "proxy_country": "",
  "wait_after_load": 0
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per result - organic, ad\_top, ad\_bottom or ai\_overview

## `serp` (type: `string`):

The complete parsed SERP including result counts and totalResults
