## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TikTok Search Scraper

Search **TikTok videos by keyword** and get the results **in TikTok's own ranking** as clean, structured JSON. Every video comes in full: **exact plays, likes, comments, shares, saves and reposts**, the caption with hashtags and mentions, the publish date, the **creator** with follower, like and video counts, the **music**, cover images, play and **watermark-free download URLs**, subtitles and TikTok's own topic labels. Pick the region whose ranking you want. No TikTok account, login, cookies or proxies to set up.

### Features

- **Keyword search** - up to 200 videos per keyword, numbered by TikTok's rank (`position`).
- **Region selectable** - TikTok ranks search by region; set `proxy_country` to see what users in that country see.
- **Exact engagement** - plays, likes, comments, shares, saves and reposts as exact numbers, not "1.2M".
- **Full video shape** - caption, hashtags, mentions, language, publish date (ISO + Unix), duration, resolution, cover, play and download URLs, quality variants, subtitle tracks.
- **Creator snapshot** - username, nickname, verified flag, bio, avatar, followers, likes and video count.
- **Music** - title, artist, original-sound flag, duration and play URL.
- **Flags** - ad, AI-generated, duet / stitch / comments enabled.

### Use cases

- **Trend research** - see which videos win a keyword and how much they get played, liked and saved.
- **Influencer discovery** - find creators who rank for your niche, with their follower counts.
- **Content strategy** - study captions, hashtags, sounds and video length of top results.
- **Brand and competitor monitoring** - track what TikTok shows for your brand or product keywords, per country.
- **Datasets** - collect videos and engagement for analysis or machine learning.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `searchQueries` | array | `["telescope"]` | Keywords to search (one search each). |
| `maxResultsPerQuery` | integer | `20` | Videos per keyword (1-200). |
| `proxy_country` | string | empty | ISO-2 country whose ranking to read, e.g. `US`. |
| `concurrency` | integer | `2` | Searches run at the same time (1-3). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["street food", "home workout"],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 50,
  "proxy_country": "DE"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per video (media URLs and creator shortened here):

```json
{
  "id": "7699350666153577742",
  "url": "https://www.tiktok.com/@creator_a/video/7699350666153577742",
  "type": "video",
  "description": "delicous crispy chicken alfredo wraps #chickenalfredo #wraps #alfredosauce #crispy #dinnerideas",
  "hashtags": ["chickenalfredo", "wraps", "alfredosauce", "crispy", "dinnerideas"],
  "createdAt": "2026-10-22T17:30:00+00:00",
  "stats": {"plays": 1200000, "likes": 126100, "comments": 307, "shares": 20100, "saves": 41307, "reposts": 0},
  "video": {"duration": 62, "width": 720, "height": 1280, "format": "mp4", "cover": "https://...", "playUrl": "https://...", "downloadUrl": "https://...", "subtitles": []},
  "position": 1,
  "query": "cooking",
  "searchUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/search/video?q=cooking",
  "region": null
}
```

Searches that return nothing or cannot be run go to the `ERRORS` record in the run's key-value store, with the reason. They are not billed.

### Pricing

**$0.25 per 1000 videos** (pay per result) - one dataset item is one video. Failed searches are free.

### Notes

- Search runs in a real browser session that solves TikTok's captcha on the fly, so one search takes about 15-50 seconds; about 12 videos arrive per scroll.
- TikTok's ranking changes over time and by region, so two runs of the same keyword can differ.
- TikTok often shows US visitors a login wall instead of search results, so searches pinned to `US` fail more often; leave the region empty or pick another country.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search on TikTok (one search each), e.g. 'street food'. Each search returns the videos TikTok ranks for it, up to 'Max videos per search'.

## `maxResultsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

How many videos to collect for each keyword (1-200). About 12 arrive per scroll, so deep searches take longer.

## `proxy_country` (type: `string`):

ISO-2 country whose TikTok ranking you want (e.g. 'DE', 'GB'). TikTok ranks search results by region. Leave empty to let the scraper choose; TikTok often shows US visitors a login wall, so 'US' fails more often.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many searches to run at the same time (1-3).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "telescope"
  ],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 20,
  "proxy_country": "",
  "concurrency": 2
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per video with exact engagement, caption, hashtags, creator, music and media URLs

## `errors` (type: `string`):

Searches that returned nothing or could not be run, with the reason (not billed)
