## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Yahoo Search Scraper (SERP API)

Scrape **Yahoo search results** as clean structured JSON - organic results, top and bottom **ads** and related searches - without touching proxies, headless browsers or CAPTCHA solvers.

Yahoo fills in its ads and picks them by the visitor's location, so each page is loaded in a real browser from an exit in the country you choose, on Yahoo's regional site for that country.

### Features

- **Organic results** with position, title, URL, displayed URL, domain and snippet.
- **Ads** shown above and below the organic list, with the advertiser's domain.
- **Multiple queries** per run, searched in parallel.
- **Multi-page** - up to 10 result pages per query.
- **Country targeting** - the search runs from the country you pick, so results and ads match that market.
- Same output shape as our Google Search Scraper, so one pipeline handles both.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `keywords` | array | `["web scraping api"]` | Search queries, one search each. |
| `pages_to_check` | integer | `1` | Result pages per query (1-10). |
| `proxy_country` | string | `US` | Country to search from. |
| `language` | string | - | Optional: restrict results to one language (ISO-639-1). |
| `include_ads` | boolean | `true` | Also return paid results. |
| `concurrency` | integer | `3` | Queries searched at the same time (1-5). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "keywords": ["running shoes", "car insurance quotes"],
  "pages_to_check": 2,
  "proxy_country": "US"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per result, with `type` = `organic`, `ad_top` or `ad_bottom`:

```json
{
  "keyword": "running shoes",
  "type": "organic",
  "position": 1,
  "title": "The 15 Best Running Shoes of 2026",
  "url": "https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a19663621/best-running-shoes/",
  "displayedUrl": "https://www.runnersworld.com › gear › best-running-shoes",
  "domain": "runnersworld.com",
  "description": "Find the best running shoes of 2026..."
}
```

The full parsed page for each query (including `relatedSearches` and result counts) is stored in the key-value store as a `SERP-...` record. Queries that fail are listed in the `ERRORS` record and are **not billed**.

### Pricing

**$0.50 per 1000 results** (organic results and ads each count as one result). Failed queries are not charged.

### Notes

- Each page returns roughly 7 organic results plus the ads Yahoo shows on it.
- Ads depend on the country, the query and the moment - some queries show none.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

One or more Yahoo search queries, e.g. "running shoes". Each query is searched separately.

## `pages_to_check` (type: `integer`):

How many result pages to fetch per query (1-10). Each page returns roughly 7 organic results plus the ads Yahoo shows on it.

## `proxy_country` (type: `string`):

The country the search runs from. It sets the result market and the ads shown (ads follow the searcher's location).

## `language` (type: `string`):

Optional ISO-639-1 code (e.g. en, de): restricts results to that language. Leave empty for the regional site's default.

## `include_ads` (type: `boolean`):

Also return the paid results shown above and below the organic list.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many queries to search at the same time.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "web scraping api"
  ],
  "pages_to_check": 1,
  "proxy_country": "US",
  "include_ads": true,
  "concurrency": 3
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per result - organic, ad\_top or ad\_bottom

## `errors` (type: `string`):

Queries that returned no data, with the reason (not billed)

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "keywords": [
        "web scraping api"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("scrapeunblocker/yahoo-search-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
