## Pricing

from $0.43 / 1,000 job delivereds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Reed Scraper: UK jobs with salary, yearly pay, contract, skills and the full description

Reed Scraper collects **jobs from reed.co.uk**, one of the largest job boards in the United Kingdom, by keyword,
location and filters, or from links you copy from the site. Each job comes back as one clean row: title, company and
its Reed profile, whether it was posted by an agency or the employer, town, county, region and postcode, remote,
hybrid or on-site, salary range with its period (hour, day or year) **and the yearly equivalent**, the salary text as
shown on the advert, contract type, full or part time, category, sector, skills, posted, updated and expiry dates,
easy apply, graduate and UK work eligibility flags, and the **full job description** in text and HTML.

No account, cookies or Reed API key needed. It is used to:

- build UK job boards, newsletters and job alert bots for a role, a city or a sector;
- research UK salaries, contract rates and demand by role, region and seniority;
- find companies and agencies hiring right now in a sector, for recruiting and B2B outreach.

### At a glance

| What | Price |
|---|---|
| Job delivered | **US$ 0.50 per 1,000 jobs** (US$ 0.0005 each) on the Free plan, lower on paid plans |
| Run start | US$ 0.005 per run |

- 1,000 jobs with full descriptions = **about US$ 0.51** on the Free plan.
- Paid Apify plans get a lower price per job automatically (Bronze, Silver, Gold and above).
- The full description, skills and yearly salary are included in the job price; there is no extra event.
- Error rows, duplicates and jobs already delivered in earlier runs (`onlyNew`) are never charged. `maxItems` is a
  hard cap, and a spending limit set on the run stops it cleanly with everything delivered so far.

### Quick start

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["data analyst"],
  "location": "London",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

Permanent hybrid software jobs within 20 miles of Manchester paying at least 40,000 GBP a year:

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["software engineer"],
  "location": "Manchester",
  "radiusMiles": 20,
  "jobTypes": ["perm"],
  "workingOption": "hybrid",
  "minSalary": 40000,
  "salaryOnly": true,
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

Every filter of the site: set the filters on reed.co.uk, copy the link from the address bar and paste it in
`startUrls`, for example `https://www.reed.co.uk/jobs/nurse-jobs-in-london?perm=true`. Job links such as
`https://www.reed.co.uk/jobs/python-developers/57418395` work too and return that one job.

Daily alert: schedule the run once a day with `"onlyNew": true` and `"postedWithin": "today"`; only jobs you have not
received before come back (the ones skipped are free).

### Input

| Field | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQueries` | list of text | Keywords, one search each (also accepted: `searchQuery`, `query`, `keywords`). |
| `location` | text | UK town, city, county or postcode. Empty = the whole UK. |
| `radiusMiles` | number | 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 50 miles around the location. |
| `startUrls` | list of links | reed.co.uk search links (all filters kept) or job links. |
| `jobTypes` | list | `perm`, `temp`, `contract`, `fullTime`, `partTime`. |
| `workingOption` | text | `remote`, `hybrid` or `onSite`. |
| `minSalary`, `maxSalary` | number | Yearly salary in GBP (the site converts hourly and daily rates). |
| `postedWithin` | text | `anytime`, `today`, `lastthreedays`, `lastweek`, `lasttwoweeks`. |
| `postedBy` | text | `any`, `agency` or `employer`. |
| `salaryOnly`, `graduateOnly`, `easyApplyOnly`, `visaSponsorshipOnly` | true/false | The site's own switches. |
| `hideTrainingCourses` | true/false | Default on: leaves out paid course adverts mixed into the results. |
| `includeDescription` | true/false | Default on: opens each job for the description, yearly pay, skills, sector, region, postcode. |
| `maxItems` | number | Hard cap for the whole run. Default 50, 0 = no cap. |
| `onlyNew` | true/false | Deliver only jobs not delivered in earlier runs of the same search. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | proxy | Apify datacenter proxy by default. |

With no keyword and no link, the run searches the example `data analyst` so you can see the output right away.

### Output

Error rows have `"type": "error"`, an `errorCode` and a message, and are **never charged**.

| errorCode | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| `INVALID_INPUT` | A filter value is not valid | Use the values listed in Input |
| `INVALID_URL` | The link is not a reed.co.uk jobs link | Paste a search link or a job link from reed.co.uk |
| `JOB_NOT_FOUND` | The job link is expired or removed | Check the link; expired jobs leave the site |
| `NO_RESULTS` | No job for that search and filters | Use fewer filters, a wider radius or a broader keyword |
| `BLOCKED` | reed.co.uk refused every attempt for that search | Run again in a few minutes |
| `UNEXPECTED` | Something else stopped the run | Run again; the run never ends as FAILED |

### Integrations, scheduling and AI agents

- **Schedule** searches daily with `onlyNew` in [Apify schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules) for job
  alerts by role and city.
- **Export** as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or read the dataset from the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2).
- **Connect** it to Make, n8n, Zapier or Google Sheets through
  [Apify integrations](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations), for example a Slack message for each new
  contract role above a day rate.
- **AI agents:** call it as a tool through the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp)
  in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, for example "get 300 data engineer jobs in the UK from Reed and give me
  the median yearly salary by region".

### FAQ

**Do I need a Reed API key?** No. The Actor reads the public job pages, so there is no key, quota or account.

**Why do some rows have no salary numbers?** The advert hides the salary ("Competitive salary", "Negotiable"). Then
`salaryHidden` is true and `salaryText` keeps what the advert shows.

**What is `salaryYearlyFrom`?** Reed's own yearly equivalent of hourly and daily rates, handy to compare contract and
permanent pay. It comes with `includeDescription` on.

**Can I sort by date?** reed.co.uk has sorting turned off in its public search. Use `postedWithin` to keep only recent
jobs, and `onlyNew` on a schedule to get each job once.

**How many jobs can a search return?** Reed shows 25 jobs per page and the Actor follows the pages until `maxItems`
or the end of the search. Split very broad searches by location or job type for more coverage.

**Is it fast?** In our test 60 jobs with full descriptions took about 11 seconds; without descriptions a page of 25
jobs takes under a second.

### Limitations

- Only reed.co.uk jobs (UK). Training-course adverts are hidden by default.
- Recruiter contact names, e-mails and phone numbers are not collected; contact details inside descriptions are
  removed.
- Skills and postcodes appear only when Reed has them for the job.

### Changelog

- **16 Oct 2026:** first version: keyword, location, radius and every site filter, search and job links, yearly
  salary, skills, sector, full description, `onlyNew` for daily alerts.
