## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Kununu Scraper API - Bewertungen, Gehälter & Benefits

Research employers, benchmark salaries, or monitor employer brand with data from [Kununu](https://www.kununu.com) — the reference for employer reviews in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with 5M+ reviews of 1M+ companies.

⚡ **Scrape any company on Kununu by name or URL, in three modes: employee & candidate reviews (title, score, 13 factor ratings, pros/cons texts), salary ranges per job title (min / median / max / average with entry counts), or the full company profile — kununu score, factor breakdown, recommendation rate, industry benchmark, salary stats and Kununu's AI review summary. Pay per result.**

### The three modes

**`reviews`** — one row per review, employee + candidate tabs, **the whole listing** (verified: 274 of 274 for a 274-review company, from 2007 to today):

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `title`, `score`, `date` | "Solider Arbeitgeber", 3.6, 2026-10-06 |
| `ratings` | 13 factor scores (atmosphere, salary, leadership…), each with optional text |
| `positiveText` / `negativeText` / `suggestionText` | the reviewer's free-text pros, cons and suggestions |
| `position`, `department`, `isFormerEmployee`, `formerSince`, `recommended` | reviewer context |
| `reviewKind` | employees | candidates |
| `hasEmployerResponse` | employer replied |

**`salaries`** — one row per job title's salary range:

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `jobTitle` | Softwareentwickler:in |
| `salaryMin` / `salaryMedian` / `salaryMax` / `salaryAverage` | 43 400 / 71 000 / 109 700 / 72 900 (gross €/year) |
| `salaryEntries` | 359 data points |

**`company`** — one row per company, the full intelligence block (also attached to every row of the other modes):

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `companyScore` vs `industryAverageScore` | 3.7 vs 3.4 — instant benchmark |
| `recommendationRate`, `totalReviews` | 73 %, 14 109 reviews |
| `factorScores` | the 13 kununu factor averages across ALL reviews |
| `aiReviewSummary` | Kununu's AI summary of all reviews |
| `salaryEntriesCount`, `highestPaidJobTitle`, `lowestPaidJobTitle` | salary stats |
| `isVerified`, `isClaimed`, `headquarters`, `firstReviewYear`, `reviewTransparency` | profile trust signals |

Turn on **Flatten rows** for spreadsheet-ready columns (`factor_teamwork`, `rating_salary`…).

### Inputs

| Field | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Company names | `companyNames` | `["SAP"]` | Names as they appear on Kununu; resolved to the right profile automatically, across country sites. |
| Profile URLs | `startUrls` | — | Any Kununu profile URL: `https://www.kununu.com/de/sap`, `.../at/spar/kommentare`… |
| Mode | `mode` | `reviews` | `reviews` | `salaries` | `company`. |
| Country site | `country` | `de` | Country path tried first for name resolution (de/at/ch/us); others are tried as fallback. |
| Candidate reviews | `includeCandidateReviews` | on | In reviews mode, also scrape the application/interview reviews. |
| Maximum rows | `maxItems` | 200 | Total row cap — the number of results you pay for. 0 = no limit. |
| Max reviews per company | `maxReviewsPerCompany` | 0 | Cap per company in reviews mode (0 = everything the site exposes). |
| Flatten rows | `flatten` | off | Flat columns for CSV/Excel. |
| Input status report | `emitInputStatus` | on | OUTPUT reports what each input resolved to and why anything returned 0. |
| Proxy | `proxyConfiguration` | Apify RESIDENTIAL | Keep the default residential proxy settings for reliable results. |

### Why this scraper

- **Three products in one** — reviews, salaries and company intelligence, consistently shaped, each row carrying the company context block.
- **Complete, not just the first page** — Kununu shows ten reviews per listing and asks visitors to sign up for the rest. This Actor never logs in: it walks the listing through every filter facet (year, score, status, position, department…) and every sort order, splitting until each subset fits a page, and deduplicates by review id — reaching every review the site exposes publicly. Very large companies (thousands of reviews) are bounded by a per-company request budget; use `maxReviewsPerCompany` to size runs.
- **Every input wired** — names, URLs, modes, country fallback, candidate reviews: everything declared actually works.
- **Honest reporting** — the `input_status` report in OUTPUT says what each input resolved to and why anything came back empty.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** The Actor reads only publicly displayed content — the same pages any visitor sees. Reviews are anonymous; no accounts are used, no login wall is bypassed. You are responsible for using the output in compliance with applicable laws and Kununu's terms.

**A company returns 0 rows?** Check `input_status` in the run's OUTPUT: it reports what the name resolved to (`slug`, `country`) and Kununu's own review total. Try the exact profile URL if a name is ambiguous.

**What currency are salaries in?** Kununu shows gross yearly salaries in the profile country's currency (EUR for de/at, CHF for ch, USD for us).

**Why residential proxies?** Kununu is strict with automated traffic; the default residential proxy settings give the most reliable results — keep them unless you run your own proxies.

# Actor input Schema

## `companyNames` (type: `array`):

Company names as they appear on Kununu ("SAP", "Deutsche Bahn", "Lidl"). The scraper resolves each name to the right profile automatically, across the kununu country sites.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Any Kununu profile page: https://www.kununu.com/de/sap, .../de/sap/kommentare, .../at/spar, ...

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Reviews: the latest visible reviews with title, score, 13 factor ratings and pros/cons texts. Salaries: min/median/max/average per job title with entry counts. Company: kununu score, factor breakdown, recommendation rate, industry benchmark, salary stats, culture rating and the AI review summary.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Country path to try first when resolving company names. Other countries are tried automatically as fallback.

## `includeCandidateReviews` (type: `boolean`):

In reviews mode, also scrape the visible application/interview reviews (the Bewerbung tab).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many rows in total — the number of results you pay for. 0 = no limit.

## `maxReviewsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

In reviews mode, stop after this many reviews for each company. 0 = every review the site exposes (a few hundred requests for companies with thousands of reviews).

## `flatten` (type: `boolean`):

Emit flat columns (factor_teamwork, rating_salary...) instead of nested objects, for spreadsheet-friendly exports.

## `emitInputStatus` (type: `boolean`):

Write an input_status report to OUTPUT: which companies resolved to which profile, how many rows each returned, and why any returned nothing.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Keep the default residential proxy settings for reliable results; datacenter proxies are often refused by Kununu.
