## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## OFAC Sanctions Screener (SDN + Consolidated List, Fuzzy Match)

Screen **customer, vendor, vessel and counterparty names in bulk** against the **US Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list** and the **Consolidated (non-SDN) sanctions list**, downloaded fresh from OFAC's official Sanctions List Service on every run. No key, login or proxy.

### Use cases

- **Fintech, payments & marketplaces**: KYC/KYB onboarding checks.
- **Exporters, freight & shipping**: screen buyers, consignees and vessels.
- **Compliance teams**: periodic re-screening of a whole customer list on a schedule.
- **Nonprofits & grant makers**: screen grantees and vendors.

### How matching works

Names and every alias (a.k.a., f.k.a., n.k.a.) are normalized (accents, punctuation and suffixes like LLC/LTD removed), then compared with edit-distance and word-order-insensitive scoring. `minScore` 85 is a sensible start; use 90+ for fewer false positives.

### Input

```json
{ "names": ["Banco Nacional de Cuba", "Acme Trading LLC"], "minScore": 85, "entityType": "any" }
```

### Output

One row per potential match: `query, score, matchedName, matchedOn, sdnName, entityType, programs, list, remarks, aliases, addresses, vessel, sourceUrl, screenedAt`. Names with no match return one `found: false` row (not charged), which you can keep as your screening record.

### Pricing

Pay per result (per potential match returned). Clean names are free.

### Important

This is a screening aid, not legal advice. A score is not a determination: review potential matches against the full OFAC record (DOB, nationality, addresses) before acting. OFAC data is US government public domain. Not affiliated with the US Treasury.

# Actor input Schema

## `names` (type: `array`):

People, companies, banks or vessels. One per line.

## `minScore` (type: `integer`):

Lower finds more possible matches (and more false positives). 100 = exact after normalization.

## `entityType` (type: `string`):

Entity type.

## `includeConsolidated` (type: `boolean`):

Also screen the Consolidated (non-SDN) list.

## `maxMatchesPerName` (type: `integer`):

Max matches per name.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "names": [
    "Banco Nacional de Cuba",
    "Vladimir Putin"
  ],
  "minScore": 85,
  "entityType": "any",
  "includeConsolidated": true,
  "maxMatchesPerName": 10
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All results in the default dataset (Overview view selected).

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "names": [
        "Banco Nacional de Cuba",
        "Vladimir Putin"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("se7enmethod/ofac-sanctions-screener").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
