## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Keyword Suggestions Scraper

Collect public autocomplete suggestions from Google, Bing, Yahoo, Amazon, Etsy, YouTube, Pinterest, and Wikipedia. The Actor accepts the values a user would enter in those services rather than requiring result-page URLs.

### Input

```json
{
  "keywords": ["software", "ai tools"],
  "platforms": ["google", "bing", "etsy", "pinterest", "wiki"],
  "language": "en",
  "countryCode": "US",
  "maxItems": 20,
  "maxConcurrency": 3,
  "maxRequestRetries": 2,
  "requestTimeoutSecs": 30,
  "useApifyProxy": false
}
```

- keywords is required and supports 1–100 unique, non-empty values.
- maxItems applies independently to every keyword/platform pair.
- Custom proxyUrls take precedence over Apify Proxy. A stable proxy session is reused for API calls and browser fallbacks.
- Etsy and Pinterest use their public API when available and fall back to the visible autocomplete/refinement UI.

### Output

The dataset contains only successful, source-backed records:

```json
{
  "id": "2a768334b7b084cb18aa02e2",
  "keyword": "software",
  "platform": "google",
  "suggestions": ["software engineer", "software developer"],
  "suggestionCount": 2,
  "language": "en",
  "countryCode": "US",
  "source": "google.com",
  "extractionMethod": "api",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-30T00:00:00.000Z"
}
```

The OUTPUT key-value record reports each requested source as success, empty, blocked, unavailable, temporary\_error, timeout, invalid\_response, or failed. Diagnostics never enter the result dataset.

### Current source limitation

Answers.com has removed its former public search/autocomplete surface. The answers choice remains for backward compatibility and is reported as unavailable without substituting another service or fabricating suggestions. Runs with other successful platforms complete with limitations.

Autocomplete results are time- and location-sensitive research signals, not search-volume measurements. Use small batches and only proxies you are authorized to use.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

One to 100 keywords to enter into each selected public autocomplete surface.

## `platforms` (type: `array`):

Public autocomplete sources to query. Answers is retained for compatibility but its former suggestion surface is currently unavailable.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language code sent to sources that support locale selection.

## `countryCode` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code sent to sources that support market selection.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum suggestions retained for every keyword/platform pair.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Maximum keyword/platform requests processed at once.

## `maxRequestRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries for temporary network, rate-limit, and server failures.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Timeout in seconds for each API or browser operation.

## `useApifyProxy` (type: `boolean`):

Route requests through an authorized Apify Proxy session.

## `proxyGroups` (type: `array`):
