## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Competitor Keyword Gap Finder - Ranked Keywords & Traffic

Find the Google keywords your competitors rank for and you don't. Enter your domain and your competitors to get a keyword gap list with search volume, the competitor's position and ranking URL, estimated traffic, keyword difficulty and CPC. It's a pay-as-you-go alternative to the Ahrefs Content Gap and Semrush Keyword Gap tools, with no subscription.

### What you get

One row per keyword with:

- **domain**: the domain that ranks, and **comparedTo**: your domain
- **keyword**, **searchVolume**, **cpc**, **competition**, **keywordDifficulty** (0-100) and **searchIntent**
- **position** and **absolutePosition**: where the domain ranks on Google
- **url** and **title**: the exact page that ranks
- **estimatedTraffic**: estimated monthly visits from this keyword, and **estimatedTrafficValueUsd**: what that traffic would cost in Google Ads
- **movement** (new / up / down / same) and **previousPosition**
- **comparedPosition** and **comparedUrl**: your own position and page, in Shared keywords mode
- **monthlySearches**, trend percentages, **serpFeatures** and **location**

Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets from the **Dataset** tab, or use the API.

### Three modes

- **Keyword gap**: keywords each competitor ranks for that your domain doesn't rank for at all. These are your content opportunities.
- **Shared keywords**: keywords you and a competitor both rank for, with both positions side by side. Find where you're beaten and can catch up.
- **Ranked keywords**: every keyword each domain ranks for, yours and your competitors'. A full organic keyword export for any site.

### Use cases

- **Content gap analysis**: build a content plan from keywords that already send traffic to competitors
- **Competitor research**: see which pages and topics drive a competitor's organic traffic
- **SEO audits**: export every keyword a site ranks for, with positions and traffic estimates
- **Quick wins**: find shared keywords where you rank on page 2 and a competitor ranks on page 1
- **Agency pitches**: show prospects exactly which keywords their competitors are winning

### How to use

1. Enter **Your domain**, e.g. `example.com`.
2. Add one or more **Competitor domains**.
3. Pick a **Mode**: Keyword gap, Shared keywords or Ranked keywords.
4. Pick a **Country & language**. The default is United States (English).
5. Set **Max keywords per domain** (default 100, up to 10,000). Results are sorted by search volume, highest first.
6. Optional: set **Minimum monthly search volume**, or **Max competitor position** (for example 10 to keep only first-page rankings).
7. Run the actor. Results appear in the **Dataset** tab.

See the **Pricing** tab for current prices. Failed searches are not charged.

### Free plan limits

**Do subdomains count?** Yes. `example.com` includes `www.example.com`, `blog.example.com` and other subdomains.

**Which countries are supported?** 90+ Google markets. Pick one in **Country & language**.
