## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### Use cases

- **Etsy product research**: find best-selling and trending products in a niche before you launch
- **Competitor analysis**: track competing shops' sales, prices, discounts and new listings
- **Price monitoring**: watch prices and sales on keywords or shops over time
- **Etsy SEO and ads research**: see which listings rank for a keyword and which are sponsored ads
- **Lead generation**: build lists of Etsy sellers in a category with sales, location and ratings

### How to use

1. Choose **What to scrape**: Search results, Shops or Listing details.
2. Enter your input:
   - Search: one or more keywords (or full Etsy search URLs). Optionally set **Sort by**, **Min/Max price**, **Free shipping only** or **On sale only**.
   - Shops: shop names or shop URLs, e.g. `CaitlynMinimalist`.
   - Listing details: listing URLs or numeric listing IDs.
3. Set **Max items** (per keyword, per shop, or in total for listings; 0 = no limit).
4. Run the actor. Results appear in the **Dataset** tab, with separate views for search results, shops and listing details.

#### Getting more pages of search results

Each run automatically fetches as many pages as needed to reach **Max items**. To continue a search later, open the **Key-value store** tab after the run, copy the `NEXT_PAGE_ID` value and paste it into **Page ID** on your next run. If `NEXT_PAGE_ID` is `null`, you've fetched everything. When you search several keywords at once, `NEXT_PAGES` holds the next page for each keyword.

### Notes

- Prices are in US dollars as shown to shoppers in the United States.
- Etsy shows at most 20 pages (roughly 1,000 results) per search. To collect more, split a broad keyword into narrower ones or use price ranges.
- Searches sorted by relevance are fast (a few seconds per page). Other sort orders take longer per page.
- Review counts on search cards are rounded by Etsy (e.g. "6.2k"); listing and shop rows have exact counts.
- Item sub-ratings (quality, shipping, customer service) and "buyers recommend" are filled in when Etsy includes them on the page and may be empty otherwise. Favorites are only shown by Etsy once a listing has enough of them.
- Etsy no longer shows listing tags on product pages, so tags are not included.
- Shop pages take 20-60 seconds each to load, so shop runs with many listings take a while.
