## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Explorer - Related Topics & Rising Queries

Get the full Google Trends picture for any keyword: related topics, top and rising related queries (including **Breakout** searches), interest over time and interest by region. Measure web search, YouTube search, Google News, Google Images or Google Shopping, worldwide or in 50+ countries. Run it on a list of keywords in one go and export everything to a spreadsheet.

### What you get

One row per data point, tagged with a **type**:

- **related_query**: **query**, **list** (`top` or `rising`), **rank**, **value** and **valueLabel**. Rising queries show their growth (`+450%`), or `Breakout` for growth over 5,000%.
- **related_topic**: **topic**, **topicType** (company, person, professional field…), **topicId**, **list**, **rank**, **value** and **valueLabel**
- **interest_over_time**: **date**, **dateTo** (for weekly or monthly points), **value** (0-100) and **isPartial** (true for the current, unfinished period)
- **interest_by_region**: **region**, **regionCode** (e.g. `US-KS`), **rank** and **value** (0-100). Worldwide runs compare countries; country runs compare states and regions.

Every row also has **keyword**, **country**, **timeRange**, **searchType** and a **trendsUrl** link to the same chart on Google Trends.

The **Dataset** tab has ready-made views for related queries, related topics, interest over time and interest by region. Export any of them to CSV, Excel, JSON or Google Sheets.

### Use cases

- **Content ideas and SEO**: rising and breakout queries show what people are starting to search for before the keyword tools catch up
- **Keyword research**: related topics and queries widen a seed list with real search language
- **YouTube strategy**: switch to YouTube search to see what viewers are looking for
- **Market and product research**: compare interest across regions and spot seasonal demand
- **Trend monitoring**: schedule weekly runs to catch new breakout searches in your niche

### How to use

1. Enter your **Keywords**, one per line. Each keyword is explored on its own.
2. Pick a **Country** (or Worldwide), a **Time range** and a **Search type**.
3. Turn off any sections you don't need: **Related queries**, **Related topics**, **Interest over time** or **Interest by region**.
4. Run the actor. Results appear in the **Dataset** tab.

### Output example

```json
{
  "keyword": "ai agents",
  "type": "related_query",
  "country": "United States",
  "timeRange": "past_90_days",
  "searchType": "web",
  "query": "ai agents executing unowned code",
  "list": "rising",
  "rank": 1,
  "value": 19050,
  "valueLabel": "Breakout",
  "trendsUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en&geo=US&date=today%203-m&q=ai%20agents"
}
```

### Notes

- All values are relative, as on Google Trends: 100 is peak interest for that keyword in the chosen place and time range. They're not absolute search volumes.
- Keywords with very little search interest return few or no rows. Widen the time range or switch to Worldwide.
- Rising lists compare the chosen period with the period just before it.

### Pricing

You pay per keyword explored, whatever sections you turn on. There's no subscription, and you can cap your spend with the run's maximum charge setting.
