## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Pinterest Profile & Board Scraper

Scrape Pinterest profile stats and full board lists for any username — bio, follower counts, and every board's name, description, and pin count, no login required.

### What you get

For every username you provide, the scraper extracts a profile summary row, plus one row per board when board scraping is enabled.

**Profile summary**

- Username, display name, and bio
- Follower count, following count, board count, pin count
- Verified merchant flag and private-profile flag
- Website URL and profile picture

**Per-board detail**

- Board name and description
- Pin count, privacy (public/secret), and collaborative flag
- Board URL and cover image

### Use cases

- **Brand and competitor monitoring** — track a competitor's follower growth and board strategy over time
- **Influencer vetting** — check follower counts and board activity before a partnership
- **E-commerce research** — see how merchants organize products into boards and which categories get the most pins
- **Lead generation** — build lists of active Pinterest business accounts in a niche
- **Content planning** — study how top accounts in your space structure and name their boards

### How to use

1. Enter one or more **Usernames** (with or without `@`) — one profile row is returned per username
2. Toggle **Include Boards** on (default) to also scrape every public board for each username, or off for profile-only output
3. Run the actor — results appear in the **Dataset** tab as they are scraped

### Output format

Each dataset record is one of two shapes, distinguished by `recordType`.

Profile row:

```json
{
  "recordType": "profile",
  "username": "bhg",
  "fullName": "Better Homes and Gardens",
  "bio": "Inspiring ideas for home, gardening, food, holidays, and living well.",
  "followerCount": 4051759,
  "followingCount": 1278,
  "boardCount": 137,
  "pinCount": 164950,
  "isVerifiedMerchant": true,
  "isPrivateProfile": false,
  "websiteUrl": "http://bhg.com",
  "profileUrl": "https://www.pinterest.com/bhg/",
  "avatarUrl": "https://i.pinimg.com/75x75_RS/...",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-31T03:22:13.129Z"
}
```

Board row:

```json
{
  "recordType": "board",
  "username": "bhg",
  "boardId": "56787713990755707",
  "boardName": "100 Years and Beyond of Better Homes & Gardens",
  "description": "Better Homes and Gardens is over 100 years old! ...",
  "privacy": "public",
  "pinCount": 51,
  "isCollaborative": false,
  "sectionCount": 0,
  "boardUrl": "https://www.pinterest.com/bhg/100-years-and-beyond-of-better-homes-gardens/",
  "coverImageUrl": "https://i.pinimg.com/200x150/...",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-31T03:22:13.904Z"
}
```

### Notes

- Boards are fetched for every username in a single run — there is no cross-run pagination cursor to manage, since a Pinterest account's board list is always a bounded, moderate-sized collection rather than an open-ended feed.
- Invalid usernames are skipped with a warning; the run continues with the remaining usernames.

# Actor input Schema

## `usernames` (type: `array`):

One or more Pinterest usernames to scrape (with or without @). Each username produces one profile row and, if 'Include Boards' is on, one row per board.

## `includeBoards` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, also scrape every public board for each username (name, description, pin count, privacy, cover image). When disabled, only the profile summary row is scraped.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "usernames": [
    "bhg"
  ],
  "includeBoards": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

recordType 'profile' rows contain username, fullName, bio, followerCount, followingCount, boardCount, pinCount, isVerifiedMerchant, isPrivateProfile, websiteUrl, profileUrl, avatarUrl, scrapedAt. recordType 'board' rows contain username, boardId, boardName, description, privacy, pinCount, isCollaborative, sectionCount, boardUrl, coverImageUrl, scrapedAt.
