## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Telegram Channel Search - Find Channels by Topic & Keyword

Find public Telegram channels by keyword, topic, country or language and export them as a clean list with subscriber counts, average post reach, engagement rate (ERR), description, verified badge and t.me link. No login, no phone number, no Telegram account needed.

### What you get

One row per unique channel (or group), with:

- **Title, username and t.me URL** - ready to open or join
- **Subscribers** - live count read from the channel's public Telegram page
- **Category** - the channel's topic (Cryptocurrencies, News and media, Health and Fitness, ...)
- **Average post reach** and **ERR %** - how many people actually see each post, and the share of subscribers that is (great for spotting channels with fake or inactive audiences)
- **Citation index** - how often other channels mention and repost this channel
- **Description** - the full channel bio, including contact handles and links
- **Verified badge** and **avatar URL**
- **Country and language** - filled from your filters, or looked up per channel with one switch
- **Groups** (optional) - public Telegram groups with member counts, weekly messages and monthly active users
- **Keyword** that found the channel, so multi-keyword runs stay easy to split

Results are deduplicated across keywords, sorted largest first, and can be exported to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets.

### Use cases

- **Telegram advertising and media buying** - build a shortlist of channels in your niche, compare reach and ERR, and skip channels with inflated subscriber counts
- **Influencer and community outreach** - find channel owners' contact handles in their descriptions
- **Market and competitor research** - map every channel covering a topic, country or language
- **Lead generation** - collect crypto, trading, e-commerce, education or local news channels at scale
- **OSINT and media monitoring** - discover channels to feed into a Telegram post scraper

### How to use

1. Enter one or more **Keywords** in any language (for example `crypto`, `fitness`, `новости`)
2. Optionally pick a **Category**, **Country** or **Language** - you can also leave Keywords empty and browse by these filters alone
3. Set **Min subscribers** / **Max subscribers** to target a channel size (e.g. 5,000-50,000 for micro-influencers)
4. Set **Max channels per keyword** (default 100; 0 returns every match)
5. Turn on **Include groups** to also get public Telegram groups, and **Include country and language** to look these up for every channel
6. Run the actor - channels appear in the **Dataset** tab

### Input example

```json
{
  "keywords": ["crypto", "fitness"],
  "language": "English",
  "minSubscribers": 5000,
  "maxItems": 200,
  "includeChats": false
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "type": "channel",
  "title": "Blum: All Crypto – One App",
  "username": "blumcrypto",
  "url": "https://t.me/blumcrypto",
  "subscribers": 13689871,
  "category": "Cryptocurrencies",
  "country": "World",
  "language": "English",
  "description": "Your easy, fun crypto trading app for buying and trading any crypto on the market.\n📱 App: @Blum\n🤖 Trading Bot: @BlumCryptoTradingBot",
  "avatarUrl": "https://cdn4.telesco.pe/file/....jpg",
  "verified": true,
  "averagePostReach": 116100,
  "errPercent": 0.8,
  "citationIndex": 3309,
  "weeklyMessages": null,
  "monthlyActiveUsers": null,
  "keyword": "crypto",
  "source": "https://tgstat.com/channel/@blumcrypto/stat",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-12T03:53:54.250Z"
}
```

`weeklyMessages` and `monthlyActiveUsers` are filled for groups; `averagePostReach`, `errPercent` and `citationIndex` for channels.

### Good to know

- **Coverage**: results come from a large public Telegram channel catalogue with millions of channels. It is strongest for English, Russian, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Persian, Hindi and other big Telegram markets; niche keywords in smaller languages may return fewer channels.
- **Search in descriptions** is on by default and finds many more channels. Turn it off if you only want channels whose name contains the keyword.
- **Groups** come from the public group ranking (the top groups in your chosen category, or top groups overall whose name matches a keyword), so expect up to about 100 groups per run, not thousands.
- **Country and language lookup** adds one request per channel and makes runs slower. Some channels do not publish this information, so expect most but not all rows to be filled.
- Only **public** channels with a username are returned. Private invite-only channels are skipped.
- Channels whose username now belongs to a person or bot are dropped automatically, and you are never charged for them.

### Pricing

You pay per channel returned. Filtered-out, duplicate and dead channels are never charged.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Topics or phrases to search for, in any language (e.g. 'crypto', 'fitness', 'новости'). Each keyword is searched separately and channels are deduplicated across keywords. Leave empty to browse by category, country or language only.

## `category` (type: `string`):

Only return channels in this topic category. Leave empty for any.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Only return channels registered to this country. Leave empty for any.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Only return channels that post in this language. Leave empty for any.

## `minSubscribers` (type: `integer`):

Skip channels with fewer subscribers than this. 0 = no minimum.

## `maxSubscribers` (type: `integer`):

Skip channels with more subscribers than this (useful for finding small and mid-size channels). 0 = no maximum.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of channels to return for each keyword (largest channels first). 0 = all matching channels.

## `searchInDescription` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, a keyword also matches channels that mention it in their description, not just in the title or username. Gives many more results.

## `verifiedOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only return channels with the official Telegram verification badge.

## `includeChats` (type: `boolean`):

Also return public Telegram groups (chats) from the group ranking: top groups in the selected category, or the overall top groups whose name matches a keyword.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Open each channel's public t.me page to add the full description, verified badge, high-resolution avatar and a live subscriber count. Slightly slower; recommended.

## `includeGeoLanguage` (type: `boolean`):

Look up each channel's country and language. Adds one extra request per channel, so runs are slower. When you filter by Country or Language, those fields are filled automatically without this option.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy used for directory requests. The default (Apify datacenter proxy) works well; the actor rotates IPs automatically when it hits a rate limit.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "crypto",
    "fitness"
  ],
  "minSubscribers": 0,
  "maxSubscribers": 0,
  "maxItems": 100,
  "searchInDescription": true,
  "verifiedOnly": false,
  "includeChats": false,
  "includeDetails": true,
  "includeGeoLanguage": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One channel or group per record: type, title, username, url, subscribers, category, country, language, description, avatarUrl, verified, averagePostReach, errPercent, citationIndex, keyword, source.
