## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## TikTok Best Time to Post Analyzer

Find the best day and hour to post on TikTok for any creator. The analyzer reads a creator's recent posts, converts every post time to the timezone you choose, and ranks each day of the week, each hour, and each day + hour slot by views or engagement rate. You get a full 7 x 24 heatmap you can chart straight away.

### What you get

One report per creator with:

- **summary**: a plain-English recommendation, e.g. *"Best slot: Thursday 13:00-14:00 (3 posts, median 18M views, +197.7% vs a typical post)"*
- **bestSlots**: the top 3 day + hour slots (each slot needs at least 2 posts so one lucky video can't win on its own)
- **bestDays**: every day of the week the creator posts on, ranked
- **bestHours**: the top 5 hours of the day, ranked
- **heatmap**: all 168 day x hour cells with post count, median views, average views and average engagement rate
- **liftVsMedianPct** on every ranked slot, day and hour: how much better it performs than the creator's typical post
- **Posting cadence**: postsPerWeek, average gap between posts, gap standard deviation and a 0-100 consistencyScore
- **Analysis window**: windowStart, windowEnd and mostRecentPostAt, plus followers, postsAnalyzed, timezone and metric

Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets from the Apify console, or pull results through the API.

### Use cases

- **Plan a posting schedule**: see which days and hours have historically earned your account the most views
- **Competitor analysis**: find out when the top creators in your niche post and which slots work for them
- **Influencer marketing**: time sponsored posts for the creator's strongest window
- **Agency and social media reporting**: give clients a heatmap backed by data instead of generic "best time to post" advice
- **Content strategy research**: compare posting frequency and consistency across many creators at once

### How to use

1. Add one or more TikTok **usernames** (with or without @) or profile URLs.
2. Set **Posts to analyze** (default 100, up to 500). More posts give more reliable time slots.
3. Set your **Timezone**, e.g. `America/New_York`, `Europe/London` or `Asia/Singapore`. Use the timezone of the audience you want to reach.
4. Choose what to **rank by**: median **views** per post, or **engagement rate** ((likes + comments + shares) / views).
5. Run the actor. Each creator's report appears in the **Dataset** tab.

### How the analysis works

- Each post's publish time is converted to your timezone, then grouped by weekday and hour.
- **Views** ranking uses the median, so a single viral video doesn't distort a slot. **Engagement rate** ranking uses the average engagement rate of the posts in the slot.
- A day + hour slot needs at least 2 posts to be ranked. If no slot has 2 posts, `bestSlots` is empty, `bestSlotsFallback` is `true`, and you can rely on `bestDays` and `bestHours` instead.
- Posts published in the last 24 hours are skipped because their views are still climbing.
- Pinned posts are included at their real publish time.

Arrays are shortened above; `heatmap` always has 168 cells (Monday 00:00 through Sunday 23:00).

Private accounts, profiles that don't exist and accounts without enough public posts appear as rows with a `status` (`private`, `not_found`, `no_videos`) and a `message`. These rows are free.

### Pricing

You pay per creator report delivered. Rows for private, missing or empty accounts are not charged.

### FAQ

**Which timezone should I use?** The one where most of your audience lives. If you don't know, start with the creator's home timezone.

**How many posts should I analyze?** 100 is a good default. Creators who post rarely need more posts to fill the heatmap; 200-500 gives steadier slot rankings.

**Why is a slot with only 2 posts ranked first?** With the minimum of 2 posts per slot, one very successful video can lift a slot a lot. Check the `posts` count on each slot, and use `bestDays` and `bestHours` (which pool many more posts) to confirm the pattern.

**Does it work for private accounts?** No. Only public posts can be analyzed.

# Actor input Schema

## `usernames` (type: `array`):

Creators to analyze, one per line (up to 200 per run). Accepts usernames with or without @, or profile URLs such as https://www.tiktok.com/@name.

## `postsToAnalyze` (type: `integer`):

How many of each creator's most recent posts to analyze (10-500). More posts give more reliable time slots. Posts younger than 24 hours are skipped because their views are still climbing.

## `timezone` (type: `string`):

IANA timezone the days and hours are reported in, e.g. America/New_York, Europe/London, Asia/Singapore or UTC. Use your audience's timezone.

## `metric` (type: `string`):

Views ranks slots by median views per post. Engagement rate ranks them by average (likes + comments + shares) / views.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "usernames": [
    "khaby.lame",
    "mrbeast"
  ],
  "postsToAnalyze": 100,
  "timezone": "America/New_York",
  "metric": "views"
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `reports` (type: `string`):

One row per creator (status "ok"): summary, bestSlots, bestDays, bestHours, heatmap (168 day x hour cells with posts, medianViews, avgViews, avgEngagementRate), postsPerWeek, consistencyScore, windowStart and windowEnd. Private, missing or post-less accounts appear as uncharged rows with a status and message.
