## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Weibo Search Scraper - 微博 Posts & Hot Search

Search Weibo (微博, China's Twitter) by keyword and export every matching post with its likes, reposts, comments, images, video, posting location and author. Pick top posts or the latest posts, search any date range (including past years), filter by verified or media accounts, or export the live Weibo hot search list (微博热搜). No login and no Weibo account needed.

### What you get

One row per post:

- **Post**: full text, hashtags, post URL, publish time, images, video file and video page, device or source, posting location (IP region)
- **Engagement**: likes, reposts and comments
- **Repost info**: whether it's a repost, plus the original post's text, author and link
- **Author**: name, ID, profile link, follower count, verified flag and verification reason, avatar

In **Hot search** mode, one row per trending topic with its rank, heat score, label (热 hot, 新 new…) and a search link.

### Search options

| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sort: Top posts (热门) | The most popular posts for your keyword |
| Sort: All results (综合) | Weibo's default mix of popular and recent posts |
| Sort: Latest (实时) | The newest posts first |
| Published from / to | Any date range, years back. Great for brand history and event analysis |
| Post type | Original posts only, verified accounts, media accounts or popular posts |
| Contains | Only posts with images, videos or links |

### Use cases

- **Brand monitoring**: track what Chinese consumers say about your brand, product or competitors
- **Social listening and sentiment analysis**: export posts and engagement for any topic or hashtag
- **PR and crisis monitoring**: follow a story as it breaks, with the hot search list and the latest posts
- **Historical research**: pull posts from any past date range for event and campaign analysis
- **KOL discovery**: find verified accounts and top voices discussing a topic

### How to use

1. Enter one or more **Search keywords** (use `#topic#` to search a hashtag)
2. Choose **Sort by**, and optionally a date range and post filters
3. Set **Max posts per keyword** and run the actor
4. Export the results from the **Dataset** tab as JSON, CSV or Excel
5. For the trending list, set **Mode** to **Hot search list**

### Pricing

Each post is one `post` event. **Latest**, date ranges and post-type or media filters use a deeper lookup that fetches every post individually for full text and real counts, so each of those posts adds one `full-post-lookup` event. Hot search topics are one `hot-topic` event each.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Weibo account or cookies?** No.

**Why is `textTruncated` true on some posts?** In Top and All modes, Weibo cuts very long posts short in search results. Use Latest or a date range to get the full text of every post.

**Why is `authorFollowers` empty in Latest mode?** Weibo's post page doesn't include the author's follower count. Top and All modes include it.

**Are ads included?** No. Promoted posts and sponsored hot search entries are removed.

**How far back can I search?** Any date range works, including past years. Weibo shows up to about 50 pages per search, so split long ranges into shorter ones for the most complete results.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Search posts by keyword, or export the current Weibo hot search list (about 50 topics with heat scores).

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

What to search for on Weibo, one keyword per line. Use #topic# to search a hashtag.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Top posts are the most popular matches, All mixes popular and recent posts. Latest returns the newest posts first and is charged an extra full-post-lookup event per post.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Only posts published on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD, China time). Works for past years too. Setting a date uses the full-lookup search and adds the full-post-lookup event per post.

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Only posts published on or before this date (YYYY-MM-DD, China time).

## `postFilter` (type: `string`):

Narrow results by post or author type. Any choice other than All uses the full-lookup search.

## `mediaFilter` (type: `string`):

Only posts containing images, videos or links. Any choice other than Anything uses the full-lookup search.

## `maxPostsPerKeyword` (type: `integer`):

How many posts to collect for each keyword.
